We have had our sweet little Nessa Faye for about 6wks now, making her 16 wks old. Her favorite toys are #1 plastic springs, knit snake, velvet mouse, this crazy ball that zips around the house or a circular thing, octopus on the little stick thing, and tunnels. Although she has sooo many more toys than that, we have about 2 little toy containers full. They just keep showing up, I don't know how, haha. Nessa has about two super crazy times of the day. When she first comes out of her kennel in the morning and right before bed, where she is insane. She likes to run all over the couch, chairs, stairs and messes with all her toys and plays fetch. After that she finds a cat tree near a window to watch all the things happening in the culdesac and then finds a kid or a bed to nap. Nessa is settling in quite well as the baby of the house, with 5 older kid siblings she gets endless amounts of snuggles and annoyance. Its safe to say there has been quite a few tantrums about being told to leave her alone and stop smothering followed up with "so and so has spent more time with her than I have, that's not fair". She tends to gravitate to the oldest two kids when she's had enough or in the room with me in a tree or bed. My husband who doesn't like cats has taken a liking to her it started off with "I don't want her to be scared of me" to holding her at the table, petting her often, letting her snuggle with him on the couch or in the computer chair. He still won't give her kisses when she asks for them although, he's just always like "why is she all in my face?". YES, Nessa comes up to you and gives kisses! Its so stinking adorable. I have tried to introduce her to many experiences so she can join in on all the fun. She's dropped kids off with me at the bus stop in her stroller, enjoyed the screened in back deck, goes on car rides, went shopping, swam for a bit in the pool, we tried leash walking, and basic sphynx maintenance. She's gotten pretty good at being in the car and now when she has been home quite a bit if she hears my keys she runs to the door to come with. Just in time for a long trip down to New Mexico to visit family. Nessa has been excellent at using the litter box and she has solid poop which is a god send after our late Devlinn and her many poo issues. Not so great is that she likes to use the carpet on the stairs and dinning room chairs as a scratcher despite the many other available options. Nessa loves treats and if she's lost in the house all you have to do is shake the treat bag and she comes barreling in. She isn't a fan of wet food although, I have tried and tried.
We did take her to her first vet appointment last week per the contract from the breeder to receive her 3rd FVRCP booster. She weighs 4.8 lbs. Our vet gave us a clean bill of health, he did say her ears were moderately waxy and advised using an ear solution. He gave her another round of dewormer (she's had 2 prior) and said there was too long of a gap from her first 2 FVRCP so she got one that visit and has to get another in 3 wks and a rabies vaccination. Our vet wants to space everything out including the spay, which I like that we are really just doing one thing a time. He also questioned if she was a sphynx, Devon rex, or donskoy and advised me to possibly get a blood test to see if she actually was what I paid for. Which was interesting. I got her from a breeder and her parents are show cats. I could get her papers for $50 and may do that, she said it was typically just if I wanted to show her. He was concerned about her tabby like markings. She looks pretty identical to her mom. I was wondering about FeLV/FIP shots in my contract it states it's up to me and my vet. I have seen so much contradicting things about this. Our vet told us that keeping her away from other cats is most important especially spit, we should be ok not vaccinating her. In pet stores he said to keep her in her carrier and since we have no other pets he doesn't see it as an issue if she's in her carrier on walks and no left out bowls where other animals have access. I just want her to be able to do anything she can with us.
