only chicken?

Yesterday I went and bought small packages of lamb, liver and beef. I was so excited! got home and dived everything into small bags. Every bag mix with diferent meats. Lamb, liver, chicken and beef. I was trying to do a Frankenprey .

Well! guess what????!!! HE DOES NOT LIKE IT!

He did not eat much last night and this morning throw up a little (it was just saliva) like when you have an empty stomach. I thought he was very hungry and will want to eat lots in the morning....WRONG!!! he barely ate. I had to seat by him and convince him to eat something. I pour some tuna fish water into it and still he did not like it. He just ate the chicken parts and because I offer it to him constantly.

Can he survive out of chicken if he refuses to eat other meats?

Aww poor baby! The throw up sounds like what new raw fed dogs get or raw fed dogs that eat at the same time everyday if they're aren't fed on time. I'm not sure if cats normally get that, but that's how it sounds.

If I were in your position, I'd keep trying new meats until you find others he likes. Most cats like pork, maybe Mr. Picky would like it too. It's odd that he's refusing meats since he's so little, usually kittens are really good about it because they're so young. Some cats are picky and you have to trick them into eating other meats. He's got to eat something though, so if for now he only wants chicken feed chicken. You could feed him chicken and put a small amount of one if the new meats next to his chicken. Some people have had pretty good success with that tactic because after awhile, the kitty starts to think of the new meat as food. If you want, you could try smearing a dab of canned food on the meat to try to get him to dig in as well.

You can go through the list of sneaky ways people get their picky cats to try new foods to see if he'll eventually eat the lamb and beef, but for now I don't see it hurting him to eat the chicken by itself. Maybe he just needs to have the new meats added slower? I don't really know, but I'd go ahead with the chicken to keep him eating now. I also wouldn't give up on convincing him other meats are good as well though. He would survive on just chicken, but it would be better for him if he'll eat other meats as well. If that happens and he won't eat organs, you'll have to supplement that somehow for him as well. I can't help with that as I don't know anything about them, but I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Maybe he's just having an off day? Mine eat anything you put down. They don't like gizzards too much and eat that last. I mixed the meats the first time I cut it up too then realized I shouldn't have until I know if they totally hate something or if something doesn't agree with them. This time I used little snack baggies and put one kind of meat in each one. Keep trying each feeding to offer the different meats. Turkey thigh is a favorite with mine. Beef is one of the last meats to go here too, it ranks just above gizzards.

I only feed Mason and Parker chicken mixed with Feline Instincts. I tried turkey and lamb, but they often wouldn't finish their servings. However, when it was chicken they ate it all. I was surprised because when they were kittens they ate lamb and turkey with no problem. I think it's fine and it's not based on anything scientific. They have healthy solid stool, they're very active, fit and I haven't had any illness issues that I know about.

I only use chicken thighs that have no hormones and additives. I remove any extra chunks of fat. The Feline Instinct mix that I add to the grinded chicken thigh is the one where you add fresh chicken liver which I buy organic from Whole Foods and salmon oil. I have used their mix with liver, but it seems like they like it more with the fresh liver.

As for variety, I've been trying out a bunch of treats that are fish based. They like the bonito flakes, but they've definitely have turned their noses to a lot of other choices.

I use a powdered pre-mix as well and never had much of a problem getting her to eat it at first... now she devours it. It smells so gross and fishy when you mix it up though.

Another trick that I tried to get her to eat new types of meat - I don't know if it is right or wrong, but I took a very small chunk and rubbed it on the inside of her mouth quickly, so that she could taste it too. That seemed to help get her licking at it and having more of an interest in the beginning, when she was eating just raw muscle meat.
