When dealing with raw chicken plus Better in the Raw, what can be included with the meal?

i.e. chicken breast (obviously this is fine).

What about chicken legs (boneless, skinless), thighs (boneless, skinless)?

Also, what about skin? Should any skin be included?

Thanks for clarification.

I think I'd like to make my own chicken chunks with BitR, rather than buy it ground.

Thanks!

All of the meat can be included, but has to be boneless. Just make sure that it is not too fatty and it should be fine.

So if I bought the meat with skin on (but no bones), that'd be okay?

Thanks! You're like the Raw Goddess here!

Im going to want to know about your experience with BitR Xandria. especially cost wise. I spent $80 yesterday on Buddies Naturals which is a local company here on the Island and another brand called Carnivora because they had the cheapest lamb. Rabbit pushes the price up but my kitties love it

@MollysMom -- I just want to clarify "all meat" -- that's basically meat plus skin, but no organs, hearts, etc?

I'm thinking I may want to make my own rather than buying pre-ground.

Sorry for all the questions; I just want to do it right. Thanks!

Yup, skin is totally fine. They need a certain amount of fat. I feed mine deer meat and purposely leave some fat on it for them.

Got it. I'm really considering grinding up my own. While I trust the butcher I have, I think it would be cheaper to buy the meat and grind it myself. Thanks, as always! You rock.

I never ground Nigel's BitR and just chunked chicken and sometimes beef to mix it up. I used the whole chicken except for bones and organs for it. He liked it chunky better than ground. Max might prefer ground more if he was on wet canned food primarily, but Nigel is a chewer so he wants pieces. Lol

Good points, @Kyla L . At the moment Max is LOVING freeze dried raw chicken necks, so I'll have to try chunking. He'll only have been on wet for a couple months.

Hmmmn, now I'm debating buying a whole chicken, removing meat and skin, and having at it in my food processor to chunk it up. I suppose it's cheaper to buy a whole chicken than segments of chicken even taking into consideration the weight of bones and organs.

I love this whole new territory of raw feeding!!

I think I'll start with ground raw and then try chunks.

I love how helpful everyone is here! Thank you.
