Hey there!

I’m hoping to get some advice and feedback around this. Klaus and Theo seem to get along much of the time — they play and sleep near each other a lot of the time. But Klaus continues to play too rough or bite Theo. I read online that pinning the kitten and biting his neck is a move for dominance but this seems excessive... I have feliaway and also just am confused as they do get along a lot of the time. But Klaus is nuts and can’t disengage EVER so he does follow Theo around and bother him so I do separate them at times. But Klaus is a screamer so it’s difficult to maintain. I’ve attached some photos of poor Theo’s neck. He’s going to the vet on Monday and I called to ask if this was normal and they didn’t seem concerned and said Theo and Klaus would figure it out... but these puncture wounds are distressing to me! I’ve put a little sock around his neck to protect him but this morning I went to brush my teeth before I put it back on and came back to Klaus having broken open these spots. I’m just so upset about it.

Cats do that neck biting thing for dominance is true. That they will figure it out eventually is true. But this is abusive being that Klaus is bigger than Theo. I really think if it was me I would only have them out together when I'm there to intervene. If I had to go out, I would separate them. A fair way could be one day Klaus gets run of the house and Theo is in a room, and the next day you switch them.

I agree I think it is excessive and I wouldn’t let them be together without me since he’s opened skin.

Yikes those wounds tell me it's the normal dominance thing they'll sort out together. My boy Ross is doing the neck biting a lot with Toa but he never leaves wounds.
