Lenore started her raw meat diet today, and it's a hit! :ThumbsUp:

She's usually pretty finicky about any type of change, but I sat it down on front of her and she dove in head first like she hadn't eaten in a month! :LOL: I started her out with chicken and a bit of beef mixed into the complete premix, and she didn't hesitate for a second. SHE LOVES IT!!!

Fingers crossed that it makes her poor tummy as happy as her taste buds and NO MORE IBS!!!:Laugh::Laugh:

Congrats on the raw going down easy! Are you making your own or using a pre made? I have a hard time getting Vito to eat wet food let alone raw. We have tried a few times, but with my schedule it is easier to feed kibble and wet. I am currently trying to get him to eat more wet than kibble.

I really hope this works for Miss Lenore. You have been so good to her and I am glad that she has someone willing to fight for her. She deserves it and she sounds like she is a pretty awesome companion too!

I'm actually making my own using a premix, and I'm amazed at how easy and affordable it is! The premix has all the bone, organ, oils, and vitamins that she needs and all I have to do is add water and meat. 4 pounds of meat and one $15 bag makes enough food for an entire month, and it works out to about $0.60 per day to feed her! I got the mix from a company in Canada, and they are VERY highly recommended and have very high consumer ratings. Lenore has a habit of stealing dog food because she loves the dry crunchy kibble so much, but after she ate her first raw meal, she walked by the kibble and turned her nose up at it! It was amazing!

I'm fortunate right now to not be working and able to do school online, but she's on a twice a day feeding schedule so that it won't be hard to manage when I am working. I can make a huge batch of food once a month, freeze it in portion sizes and just thaw it out the night before. I can't believe I've waited until now to do this.

I'm really hoping that it works for her as well as it has for everyone else. It hurts me to see her have tummy troubles day after day and be powerless to stop it, and I honestly have no doubt that her tummy issues are why she's had so many homes. It's been a struggle to find out the root of the issue, and while she hasn't been officially diagnosed, she fits every single symptom on the IBS checklist. So, rather than have her go through a bunch of tests that she'll hate and we can't afford, we're trying the step that has worked for so many other people to see how she does. She's a FABULOUS companion and I've waited my entire life to have a cat like her. I am determined to give her the very best I can - she and Mudd are my babies, after all, and they deserve the best!:LOL:

Good luck on your raw adventure. I really hope this works out for Lenore, poor girl.... She deserves to feel better after all she has been through. I'm sure she really appreciates all you are doing for her and I'm sure this new diet will make a big difference!

We tried it a while back to improve Samael's stool (it's not the best, but manageable) and he took to it quite well but Lucifer was a different story. He flat out refused to eat it on day two and became a nervous wreck due to the changes (he gets stressed very easily) and vomited for an entire weekend even though we had put him back on his regular food on day three. But we could not feed them together since Samael would get his paws on Lucifer's food and separately they just would not eat. I was pretty bummed because Samael's stool became better pretty much overnight but this just wasn't working. We returned to their previous food and schedule and after a few days Lucifer was restored to himself.
Needless to say, we will not be trying this again anytime soon :ThumbsDown:

Aw, poor Lucifer! That sucks that it didn't work for both of them! Did you try switching them slowly or did you go cold turkey with them? I know everyone says you can switch them right away, but I'm afraid to try that, so I'm just mixing a bit of raw into her canned food to start and then gradually increasing it until it's pure raw.

We did mix it with wet food, and he ate the first two or so portions fine and then decided NO this is not for me! Even if we put just one small teaspoon of raw in with half a can of wet he would just turn up his nose...

Are you using TC Feline? Or something different? Just curious, as I am using the TC Feline mix from Canada.

It's day 3, and I can officially term the raw diet as a success! No vomiting, no diarrhea, poo in the box that was fully formed and not stinky (praise the Lord!), and a much calmer and happy Meowsel!!!! She's been noticeably less irritating, especially at night, and the only issue we have now is her constantly meowing for more raw food! :LOL: She loves it! This may be the best decision I've ever made concerning her!

i am reading so much about Raw meat diet , is that now good for ALL Cat types ? Or just with the Sphynx more likely?
I looked up the link about ordering, that seems all good and I am happy to see the Video and se that they use ground up meats. Now this is a thought then for me to switch too. Because i hate Raw meat cutting and ground would be not to bad. I could do that .
My questions are :
i have a sphynx and a cornish rex, would it be ok for the cornish too ? He is rather picky !
When i brought the sphynx in, i had to switch about 4 diff kinds of wet foods until i found one, where the Poop is not as runny with both.
I started out with "taste of the wild" , what the sphynx did great on and the cornish did not. I am with "BFF" and they both do Ok. Not great hard poop but fairly hard ( not runny ) and both like the taste.
How much do you feed raw a day per cat ? one is 9 lbs cat , one 7 ?

It's good for any cat breed, Sphynxes are just more prone to IBS than some other breeds. The premix I use makes things SUPER easy!
The guidelines for the premix says to feed a 10 pound adult cat 1/4 cup 2-3 times per day. Lenore weighs about 5.5 pounds, and I feed her 1/4 cup 2x daily since she's not as big, so 3/4 cup daily for each of your kitties should be about right.
