Hello,

Got back from Toadie’s second EKG at Uc Davis. Nine months ago he was equivocal. This time there is enough progression on lower walls to be HCM - B1. No meds and they recommend checking in a year.

I cried thru the whole visit and the doc kept pausing to ask if I wanted a break.

They said I can surely come back in 6 or 9 months if I am nervous - but their rec is one year or earlier if he is showing signs.

So far he has not. Heart murmur grade 2 this time and last time was 1.

I love him and am sad but am glad I know.

Hugs Tontiangel, I am so sorry to get the news with you. Toadie has no understanding of the whole matter. He’s adorable and he loves you right back. What you do know is to make sure to savor every moment as I am sure you already have been….and keep a mind’s eye for anything irregular. We are all together in this. Lair Prayers for slower progression and hopes as I always have for the research to outpace the illnesses. My heart is with you and Toadie.

Thank you - I am so glad they do not. But that can make it hard as we think and feel for them on these matters. There I was crying in the exam room and he is content sniffing and walking around! Helps comfort and bring perspective - life is still happening.

Yes savoring away and he and all I do for him is in Tonti’s honor and legacy.

Yes - I am aware to monitor breathing rates when he is fully asleep - and anything else like extra lethargic, etc. I will make sure to enjoy the days and also watch him closely. I hope I don’t miss anything.

Gosh yes I hope too with the research. These are such special creatures!!

Stay positive. Some can have little progression for a long time. I know how hard it is to hear those words…and have struggled. We are here for you.

Many of us have been in or are in your shoes. We understand the grief that is felt when the diagnosis first hits our ears. We are here for you!

My boy was also just diagnosed in March. He is low risk/ not on medications and recommended to recheck in 6m.

My first sphynx when she was diagnosed, was already in mild heart failure and started on 5 different medications. I chose to have her rechecked every 4m as the vets recommendation was 4-6m. We were able to keep on top of her progression better that way I feel. However, every recheck echo was kind of like waiting for the other shoe to drop... so it can be stressful.

I would recommend recheck in 6m if it makes you more comfortable.

Sending hugs out to you all and thinking of your journeys - past and present.

Thanks for that suggestion about six months - it feels dicey to wait a whole year in case something changes quickly? Or changes at all! I’d like to give toadie best possible chances with meds if and when needed.

Im so sorry that you had to hear this news about sweet Toadie. Many of us unfortunately know how you feel so you are not alone. Go with your gut feeling about how regular you would like him to have checks . Remember he lives in the moment surrounded by your love and doesn't worry about what the future might bring Sending comforting hugs across the miles

They don’t for the most part - but will if it’s in the path of their playtime with one another!

That’s sweet that they play with it - except when you be out and about and wonder oh no I can’t see them!

I actually had to get mine in an effort to break my fear of leaving them alone! It has helped

@tontiangel , hugs n head smooches to your babies! nothing like play zoomies knocking things over.
I got cams years ago too for peace of mind to monitor epileptic sam rottie and diabetic bubba bear rottie.
I like to peek in and see what the kittles are up to.
give extra loving from me!
