Cleopatra has slowed down considerably, as she’s getting older, but one thing that apparently gives her great joy is playing in their water fountain. She started playing in the old water bowl, before the fountain, and I thought she was telling us she was sick, but she’s enjoying creating puddles. I’m going to put a tray with raised sides under the fountain, but I’m open to some other suggestions, except a rug, before one of us slips and falls. I won’t do a rug, because if Marcus has a diarrhea issue, he poops on rugs. Older cats can be such fun. Sarcasm intended.

On a lighter note, Marcus is doing well on medication, gaining some weight and enjoying our pretty hot summer. Cleopatra is bullying Bob a lot, cuddling a lot, and has several beds that she insists on us moving to different places for her queenly naps.

How is she creating those puddles? Knocking over the bowl or fishing the water out?
The fountain has an electric eye that causes it to run a stream of water whenever somebody goes near it. Cleo has learned to bat at that stream of water and divert it onto the floor, where she can make a huge mess. The other two cats do not do this at all, thank heavens, but they drink out of the water fountain like they’re supposed to.
I should have known that Cleo would do this, because she’s always been attracted to running water. When she was about four months old, her daddy was getting ready for bed, and she heard splashing in the bathroom. She ran in there, went to jump onto the toilet seat where she heard the splashing, and got a golden shower. Bob was not happy, and neither was Cleo when she had to have a bath at 9 o’clock at night. So the water fascination has been a lifelong thing with this lovely queen.

Thanks, both of you. It is good that Markie is doing better, and Cleo is slower, but still rules the roost. Smooches back to all your Furless Wonders, and happy birthday to Batman!
