Hello everyone!!

I've always been a dog person but since stumbling upon the Sphynx, i have to revise my opinion and become a cat person as well (how can someone not fall in love with these creatures, right?)

I'm looking for a litter kittens and have found 2 reputable breeders in my region who will have a new litter around the summer.

I do have some small questions that i hope you can anwer:

1/ i leave my apartment from 8 in the moring until 8 at night to go to work. My boyfriend also works long hours. Do you think it's possible to take my cat most of the days with me to the office (no worries: i have approval already from my boss and coworkers) ? It would like to bring him with me on normal days (but not all days due to the fact i sometimes have to go visit different clients). Would a Sphynx get stressed because of this?

2/ i am a firm believer in feeding raw food but i was wondering when you can transition the kibble/wet food to the raw food. Can you already do it with a kitten or should you wait for maybe a month for the kitten to settle in a bit?

3/ i haven't decided if i want my cat to sleep with me in the bedroom or if i will let him sleep in the livingroom. What do you guys do? And if you choose to let your cat sleep with you in bed, doesn't it disturb the (spontaneous) fun times (wink wink) you have with your partner?

Thanks already for answering my questions!! I'm a newbie to the cat world and i just want to become a great cat mom for my future baby

Welcome. I agree start slowly and see how they do. Some cats are very confident and others don’t like being and about.
You will find when you are gone, they mostly sleep. Video cameras are great to check in on them and you can feel less stressed seeing them happily lounging round.

It is always recommended to feed what your breeder fed them for the first few weeks until you start to transition them to raw. I believe feeding kibble with raw is not good for them. Tagging @Sheldon13 for specifics on this s I know she feeds raw.

I am all for sleeping with them. We always have gotten an extra laugh about being judged by them when we have private time as long as no one is holding up score cards LOL. @Thepotatoguru

I enjoyed taking Agnes to the office with me. Everyone loved her and she was a good office cat. She was confident so it didn't stress her out. Some may not enjoy it as much. Perhaps start slow if possible and see how they do. I would wait until they are fully vaccinated before taking also. The car ride may be the deciding factor. Eventually Aggie disliked going for car rides probably due to the specialist vets we were taking her to were all 45m to an hour away. She would get carsick.

As for the raw food, we started her on it but she wouldn't eat it in a timely fashion so we switched to canned and dry foods. I am sure somebody else can assist with the raw food question.

I enjoyed her sleeping in bed with us. Private time still occurred, she would either judge us or scurry off elsewhere. lol!

I loved taking my Schmeeg boy in to the office with me but he was a very confident and fearless boy. I could never with my new girl Amina. While she’s getting more used to car rides to and from the vet I don’t want to stress her out anymore than we have to. As for the food, we did the freeze dried raw but ended up switching him back to kibble because his stool just never got to a solid consistency. Our babies have always slept in the bed whenever they wanted but they have cozy spots set up all over for them to get comfy when ever night time activities get in the way of their slumber lol.

I've taken my girl to work. She LOVED it - I didn't. She's too much of a handful. I guess it depends on the environment and what they will have access to and what they could potentially damage wherever you keep them. My boy on the other hand panics if he's taken out of the house, so office life would not work for him. Best to get two and leave them at home IMO.

My cats sleep with me, but it's nice to lock them out when I need a good nights sleep or something else ;). Some will sleep through the night and not bug you, some will get up for a 3am drink and use the bathroom then decide to walk all over your head trying to get comfortable or scratch at the covers trying to get underneath.

Thank you all so much for your answers! Really appreciate it {}

I'll take it slow with bringing him to the office and see what happens and if he likes it.
For the bed time, 'i'll try to convince my boyfriend to let him sleep with us but i'll provide an extra bed as well in the bedroom (for the cat, not the boyfriend :0)

If you're allowed and planning to take your cat with you id suggest a cat tree in the office, and maybe a heated bed or cozy spot for them to curl up on. (also dont forget an office litter box)
My cat loves to paw at my computer screen. we are still working on that, hopefully yours does not care.

I would start traveling with them earlier just so that theyre used to it from the beginning.

Also adding that i have also always been a dog person, and remember to keep in mind, most cats dont listen like dogs when you tell them to get down or stop doing something, so have patience with that. my cat licks SO much. Shes learned to be softer by now but in the beginning that razor tongue was a lot to get used to! lol

my cat does not like to sleep alone. She has since i gotten her wanted to sleep in the bed, under the covers, under my arm lol. The dog also sleeps under the covers though. There are times when she doesnt want to sleep (especially before gettting fixed and still a little now) that she will keep you up by walking on your pillow or face, and just generally doesnt want to settle down like a child. This hasnt fully stopped for me and is the biggest fault for me as i hate being kept up at night lol. shes leaving fun time alone 80% of the time and has to be locked out of the room the other 20% lol

hope this helps! first time owner, in my first year with Cleo!
