Akasha was just spayed on March 1st. She did wonderful! She was spayed at a low cost spay and neuter clinic that I have taken most of my past fosters too. They are cheaper than my regular vet for the spay and I love all the people that work there. They were SO intrigued by Akasha! They asked to take pictures of her and she was eating up the attention. They even called me as soon as the surgery was over to let me know she did great and they made sure she was kept warm post surgery. I sent her with 2 blankets and she was very cozy in her carrier. They gave her a pain injection before surgery and after surgery. They also sent her home with an E-collar at no charge (I think it is nice they do this for all female cats) but she hasn't needed it at all she is so good about leaving her incision spot alone.

In 2 weeks when she is completely healed she will be going to my regular vet for a check up and to schedule a full dental. I didn't want to have them pull her incisor while she was being spayed only because I want to make sure it actually needs to be pulled before I do it. The clinic only does low cost vaccines, and spaying and neutering they are not a full service vet.

Akasha will need a full dental anyway as she has a alot of tartar on her molars and other incisor. My vet also can do dentals without anesthesia but we will see what she says needs to be done before making any decisions. It may not be ideal for her to go under anesthesia again but I would rather have her heal from her spay and not have a sore mouth bugging her as well. I've been brushing her teeth and have seen minor improvement with her tartar with brushing and giving her greenies treats. Plus she LOVES the taste of the wild kibble and all her poops have been non stinky and firm which is awesome! It sounds so funny to be so happy about firm poop

Akasha and Tsume are also getting along wonderful. They sniff each other and Akasha rubs against Tsume. They aren't quite ready to start playing yet but I did get Akasha to play with a feathery pole toy! Which is awesome because her previous owner said she never plays. Akasha is getting more and more used to the house. She meows to come out and explore. I mostly let her explore when the dogs are out so she can deal with one situation at a time. I have been swaddling her and allowing the dogs to sniff her and let her feel safe around them, giving her more positive experiences with the dogs.

All in all she is settling in wonderful and I just love her so much!! She does great during bath time, she doesn't mind her nails trimmed. I will say her toes and claws get SOOOOO dirty so fast!! I feel like I wipe her feet and nails with a baby wipe and the next day they look grimey again! She gets black/brown colored grime that is really hard to get off of her nails.

She can't have a bath for the next 2 weeks which is unfortunate. I've been bathing her once a week but at least I can still use the unscented baby wipes on her.

Here are some pictures of her! I bought her a new pink sweater and a brand new kitten collar since the regular collars are to big for her teenie neck.

The clinic weighed her and she only weighs 6.5 lbs! so teenie!

Hiding with her sweater on right after her spay. She was gettin' cozy!

This is from tonight all curled up. Sorry for the bad pics. She is hard to take pictures of and the flash from the phone camera is not great

my favorite of her snoozing all covered up.

As you can see she is QUITE spoiled and we definitely love her a ton! My fiancee loves to cuddle with her. She loves him because his body temperature is higher than mine and she curls up along side him and is all warm

Glad to hear things are going well. It is always a little nerve wracking to take your baby in for its alter. Good luck with her dental check up. I hope the outcome is better than expected.

Keep an eye on her with her stiches, Paris left hers alone for the first week, then ripped them out, leaving a nice hole that needed to heal.

I will definitely keep an eye out! I have been checking them multiple times a day... I am SUCH a worrier especially with female spays. Neuters are so much easier then spay surgeries, my boy fosters never had any issues when they use the glue to close up the incisions. I am glad they use an internal dissolvable stitching method so there really isn't anything on the outside that causes it to be really itchy. I am using baby wipes (unscented) to keep her clean and keep that area free of dirty by gently dabbing it with the wipes. She has left it alone. Poor Paris! That must have been terrible  I've never had any of our fosters or personal pets have any issues with spay/neuter surgeries thankfully! I am very lucky in that respect! We had one puppy who had to wear a cone because she wanted to lick at her belly but nothing beyond that. I am just glad I stay at home so I can watch her!

Thank you everyone! I can't wait till her dental is done so she is feeling 100% awesome and not having any discomfort or problems.

Tonight she laid on my bed while the dogs were inside and then I took them all out so she saw them "stampede" out of the room and didn't try to run. She is still very unsure of the dogs but we are making slow progress and I have a really good feeling that after awhile she will accept their presence.

Tsume does not understand why she is so worried about the dogs. He just runs up and rubs against my 60 lb lab's face

I wish I could say the same about spays, Mine have not been to bad. The worse has been a mother/daughter that got spaied at the same time, Mom had a cone because she wouldn't leave hers alone, daughter did great with her own, but pulled moms stitches out for her.

I would definitely say that progress is being made! I'm so happy for you (and for Akasha).

Love the pics too:Smile:
