So far with Meeka's eyes, so good. Her swelling has gone down a LOT since we adopted her, & even since I got the first picture of her from the old owners! She's doing quite well, but still is unable to see. I play with her by scratching my nails against the wall, & she'll follow my hand that way & swat at me. If I take my hand off the wall & just move it in front of her face she doesn't move her head. :( She has this yellowish/whitish spot on her cornea, & it upsets me because I'm sure it's damaged beyond repair. As for her left eye, it's just covered by her "inner" eyelid. When she has her eyes open, that is still covering her actual eye, so I have no idea how that cornea is doing. Anyway, I wanted to show some pictures of her progress.

ALSO! I think I have realized the problem. I do try to examine her eyes regularly, but it's always so hard with the left one to really look at due to the fact that she's very squirmy.. & I see that now after I had given her a bath & wrapped her tightly in a towel that her left eye is looking like it's sunken in... I think that may be the reason why her eye lid stays over her eye, won't know for certain til later this week. :(

The picture below is the one that the old owners sent me the day before I picked her up.

This picture is when I brought her home, the day after the 1st pic.

& this one is today, nearly a week later. (notice my laptop in the corner & I'm on SphynxLair! hehehe)

I am so glad to see that her eyes are doing much better. I am hoping that at least she can still be able to see out of her left eye after she stops using her eyelid to cover it.. I'm not sure why she keeps it like that, but I will know by the end of this week when I take her back to the vet. She's doing wonderfully, playing with the other cats, being able to jump up & off the couch, eats like a champ & drinks like a champ as well. The only problem I am having with her is I keep waking up in the morning with pee on the couch. :/ & I'm pretty sure it's her doing so. I'm not sure how I can get her to stop. I make sure to change the litterboxes daily & also I bring her to the box a few times a day to ensure she knows where it is still.

But anyway, here are some more pics of her enjoying her time here. :)

& yes, the 2nd pic Panda is being a snot & hissing at her from the windowsill. She's such a snob. :/ I am trying to break her of it. She's just so used to Chester beating her up all the time, she doesn't really trust Meeka right now. But she hisses at Meeka far less than she does at Chester, so that's good lol.

This is GREAT news

Im so happy that you are able to give her the love and medical care she needs!

As far as the peeing on the couch if you have removable cushion wash it with diluted bleach if not they might sell something at the pet store to clean it with . If there is even the faintest scent of her pee still on it I think she will continue to go back there and pee. Thats what Ive heard anyways. Stella poops outside the litter box sometimes but right on the floor beside it lol. If I clean it up with bleach she wont do it again if I dont she does the very next day UGH. I read somewhere and the pet store people told me bleach with distract them and make them go back to the litter box :)

Good luck with everything and congrats for coming this far!!!

So glad she is doing better!
You've worked hard for it, and she's a lucky girl to have such a devoted momma.

Not much to add in terms of the pee, other than maybe covering the couch temporarily with something (can use tinfoil or even a cheap plastic tarp), or trying litter attract? I've read other people talking about this stuff on the site and I'm sorry I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it's something you add to litter to make it more appealing... ??

Good luck and I hope everything continues to improve for both of you!!!

Yah, I have a leather couch so that would be good! Thank you for your info, that will help a lot. I know Chester peed there once when we were sitting on the couch because he was new here & didn't really understand the litterbox & where it was. So, I'm not sure if it's him or her, but I see him going to the litterbox regularly. So, I think she thought it was a place to go. But I will definitely try this, thank you!

Thank you very much ! I am trying very hard to keep her happy & healthy. Thank you for the info, too, I'll definitely look that up. I was thinking about trying to find something that was more appealing to her through scent, because it's her nose & ears that she uses the most, even more so since her eye sight is gone. I'll figure it out by searching this site, or googling it, but I appreciate you telling me there's something like that available! :)

Glad she's improving so well!
No real advice on the peeing issue other than cleaning the area with an enzymatic cleaner and making sure she knows where the box is. In the cat help center here on the lair are some threads on litter and litter boxes with multiple cats Sphynx Cat Owner Help Center
Good luck!

I am happy to hear she is doing better. I also want to tell you that you are one of those special people to take on a special needs cat most people would not even think of getting a pet with health problems . I my self think they make the best pets.

It does make things complicated to be honest with being a single mom & having so many animals in the house lol. Extra vet bills don't help, either. But I love the sphynx breed, they are my favorite. Her who demeanor is amazing, as well. She snuggles with me all night, & she is so needy of a affection I love it. She is very appreciative of the help & love I give her, & it's enough to just shrug off all the rest of the stuff. She's a good cat, & I couldn't want more from her. Taking in animals who have had problems like that & bringing them around, they always seem to appreciate you so much more.

A+ for all your effort it looks like its paying off.
I scratched my cornea it was very painful...I was given two medications, one was like liquid drops to prevent infection, the other was for pain. It was like putting Vaseline in my eye, it felt like glue and was like looking thru .... well ummmm Vaseline but it was soothing.Sorry it was so long ago I forget the name. But I assume they make the same thing for animals.

We have a furry cat who pees on furniture when she is stressed or upset with something. Our vet told us to cover the furniture with bubble wrap. You can tape strips of it together with packing tape or duct tape. The cats won't like it when it is new because the bubbles pop when they jump on it, but when it gets older, it doesn't pop as easily and mine actually sleep on it. But they NEVER pee on it. We take it off when we use the furniture and put it on when we can't supervise the cats.

I have been hit in the eye before, it's not very fun. I can only imagine how her eyes feel. I am just frustrated they for so bad before she saw vet care.. This whole thing could have been prevented. But as long as she's comfortable now & she seems to make it known so that's a plus. & sorry to hear about the cornea scratch! Hurts my eyes just thinking about it. :(

When you go to the vet, be sure to have her checked for a UTI (urinary tract infection) this can cause peeing in unwanted areas besides the litter box. As inflamed mention, an enzyme cleaner from Petsmart or Walmart is whats needed to thoroughly clean the couch or any other fabric with pee on it.

Alright, but having mentioned that the peeing on the couch has stopped. She's using the litter box by herself I don't have to being her to it. I think it was the transition to my house that made things complicated & she learned what to do now. :)
