Hi ,
Hope someone can help , my 8 month old sphynx went to the vets to get neutered today , I was told it couldn’t go ahead as they think he has arrhythmia. When explaining what this was they advised that his heart sounds like a washing machine and skips beats . They have given the option to monitored and have a scan next month or to speak to a specialist , I have opted to speak to the specialist however I’m pretty concerned and wanted to know if anyone else’s sphynx has this condition

My kitty does not have the problems you listed but we do see a cardiologist for another issue and I can tell you it is worth it to go to a specialist.

Going to a specialist/cardiologist will be key to seeing the cause of the irregular heartbeat and if there is a way to treat it. Please keep us updated in this thread. Your experience will no doubt help others in the future.

I agree with going to a specialist vet for an evaluation. My mastiff had a murmur that wasn't there prior to his neuter and they recommended the same for him to have it evaluated. We went to a cardiologist and he was diagnosed with a heart condition. He needs monitoring currently and scanned within a year prior to any anesthesia.

Keep us posted!
