OMG! , Pete!! Get better soon! Did he have to get a tetanus shot, too? ouch...

thanks!!!! luckly he got a tetanus shot in 2005 (i think they last for 10 years or something?) its wierd, because the bite wasnt even deep! it just broke the skin. i guess just from the bacteria in rivers mouth made it infected. hopefully it will clear up by tomorrow!!

Cats have a wide variety of nasty bacterias in their mouths, which is why a simple bite can turn into such an ugly abscess so quickly.

YOWZER! My hubby got bit one time and by the next day had a red line going up his arm. Ended up on IV's for a week. Nasty stuff.

Cats have a wide variety of nasty bacterias in their mouths, which is why a simple bite can turn into such an ugly abscess so quickly.

It is surprising! I'm an ER nurse and we see a lot of cat bites/scratches that they said were tiny little marks at first, but within 24 hours, turned into a nasty mess! From the look of his finger, I would think they would have drained that sucker when he initially went in. That puppy's ripe!
I'm sure they told you, but be sure to keep it clean, dry, and covered if it might get dirty. Don't pop the abcess and if it weeps on it's own, be sure to wash well and cover it. If there is increased redness, swelling, and (especially) a red streak that goes up his arm, be sure to take him right back to the ER because those streaks mean the infection is in his bloodstream and that's really bad. That probably wont happen because he got antibiotics at the ER and they probably gave him a Rx for home, but I'd still keep an eye out.

As for bathtime, Chadwick and I have it figured out. I fill the tub, put him and my feet in, and I let him walk aroung for a minute. When I put the soap on the wascloth, he wraps his arms around the faucet and I scrub away! He used to cling to my wrist and I still have the marks because my skin is so fair! The only time I have problems is his ears and nails, but I take him to a groomer for the nails and I sit on him (not all my weight!) for the ears!

I guess Pete won't be helping with baths anymore. That sure looks yucky! Hope it is better today.

I tried the sink in the kitchen twice. First time she was so little that I could hold her, but the second she got my husband good.
Then we tried the sink in the bathroom. I had no idea she could climb that fast. She was on the drains, my back and clinged to my head and hair.
Thank god I have the smallest bathroom in the world. Decibel hates water as well. But in our bathroom she cant escape.
She now get washed on the floor.
I use a cup or a bottle to get her wet, the shower scares her. Then I use a disposable cloth to wash her face, then I use soap on the cloth and the I finally rinse the soap of her.
Then I dry her with a towel. By that point Decibel wont talk to me for the rest of that evening.
What soap do people use?
I found out that the best soap for Decibel has been a babysoap without any perfume or other nasty things. I had actually bought an expensive cat-soap, but it was pink and smelled like flowers.
So I threw it out.
