Becoming a sphynx mom soon

Hi everyone!
I’m thinking of getting a sphynx two months from now - since the baby is now just only 3 weeks old.
He is just the sweetest little boy there is and hopefully all goes well.
My concert that he is a baby of an Elf and a Canadian sphynx.
Should I be concerned? I read that this is usually allowed, but could there be any health problems associated with this?

I have an Elf and a standard Sphynx. Both are very healthy and wonderfully interactive and affectionate. The one thing I'll caution you about is the ear care, which is challenging with this breed. Lots of black, waxy build up in the ears that you will need to tend to 2x weekly, and a professional cleaning maybe 2x year. I also found my male Elf took 2 years to reach his full growth.

****ask the breeder if they have HCM scanned the parents.

I’ve been to the cattery yesterday to see how the babies are being taken care of and to meet my future cat.
To my surprise I have not connected to the boy I initially chosen at all!
To my huge surprise I’ve connected to a completely different cat - an Elf girl ‍♀️
And this is so strange since I was so set on a boy Canadian.
But I’ve chosen her (or she chose me, it’s hard to tell!)
Seems like you never really know before you see the babies for yourself and hold them in your hands.
She is so curious and intelligent and I could tell she liked me as well
She is only 1 month young, so I still have to wait until June to take her home.

How exciting! 2 times I had my mind set on what I wanted and ended up with a totally different baby. There is just an unexplainable pull they had on me. Now you have to start trying to pick a name.

She is so curious, charming and a bit of a rebel - I think I’ll name her Audrey (like Audrey Horne from Tweak Peaks )
And she has these cute curly ears with a bit of a fluff - kind of like Audrey’s hair style.
It’s not definite yet, but I think it somehow suits her

Yes, and now the breeder will send me pics and videos of her while I wait for June.

She is the first one among her brothers and sisters to learn how to use the litter box (and she is just a month old!)

Hi. New here and about to become a first time Sphynx mama. My new son is named Oscar. I think I attached the picture. I am meeting his foster pawrents Sunday to pick him up. I have always done rescues or all of my cats have “found me“ and I have been guilt tripping myself somewhat at having gone through a breeder, paid as much as I have, etc. etc. I am a 50 year old single childless crazy cat lady who is currently mom to three of the furry variety. As I said before, they’ve all found me or as I like to say, they adopted me. I have gone through shelters previous and gotten my heart broken. I’m trying to tell myself that is less likely as I have extensively researched the breeder and the breed and I will know his background. He is coming from a breeder that is very supportive and I feel very comfortable with.
He already has his own area set up with dishes, water fountain and several choices of snuggling options. I’m sure I will be here to ask all sorts of questions.
Right off the bat, can anyone recommend a good place to get his insurance through?
I can’t wait…..

I dont have advice on insurance companies. others will surely chime in.( I started a slush savings fun and keep a care credit card on hand for emergencies. )

I’m sad to report that I got scammed. I was entirely too trusting, did not do my due diligence and ignored too many glaring red flags. I am so embarrassed. I put out a significant sum of money. The breeder (scam artist) did not show at the appointed place and time yet asked me for more money. Perhaps this is the universe telling me that it’s not time yet.
There is a breeder that is local, like in my town. She does not have any kittens right now but will be breeding in the summer and may have kittens by the fall. I will wait until then. In the meantime, I will cuddle my furry babies and appreciate how wonderful they are.

I, too am in Florida and have connected with a local breeder in Gainesville that has a phenomenal reputation and an awesome cattery. We so happen to use the same vet too. I should be able to bring home my baby in late Novembe/early december.
This is the universe telling me that it just wasn’t time yet.
