Biting tip of tail

My sweet Kirua has been biting the tip of his tail for a while now. Our vet said it’s purely behavioral as it’s been mostly happening around feeding time (or at least that’s how it started). I was told to try gabapentin for a week but I can’t say I see any difference. He’s been wearing a soft collar since he started gabapentin just to make sure he won’t go for the tail when I’m not at home. His tail is healed now(pic is from last week) but he’s still attacking it sometimes, other times he’s grooming himself fully but completely ignores his tail. He’s not in pain when I touch him, I’ve tried touching him all over his body and I’ve also pressed the tip of the tail very lightly but there was no reaction at all, he looked completely unbothered by it. I guess I would know if he was in pain. Apart from that I try to supervise him and stop him before the biting happens, as much as I can.
I don’t know what to do at this point so any advice is welcome. I feel bad making him wear a collar for the most part of the day but i also feel like I have no other choice right now. Thank you all

@Kiruhaku , Welcoming you and Kirua. others have shared tail biting. you can try top right search box for tail biting to find previous posts.
hugs n positive vibes, keep us updated. ( you can ask vet if bitter apply sprayed on a cotton round and dabbed lightly on tail tip would be okay)
