I am very interested in breeding my 1y/o Elizabeth, she is a gorgeous, quality stock dilute calico. I know all the risks(I am a neo-natal kitten specialist) and I am looking for breeding information. If anyone around the St Louis area has a male for stud service I would love to talk about possibilities. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. I love my little naked babies and am trying to gather as much information as possible before going forward. I want to be COMPLETELY informed. Thanks for your help.

I'm glad to hear you want to be completely informed. Does Elizabeth meet the breed standard? Have you done any health tests on her? It would help to give you more info If I knew what you know already. More info would be helpful.

Elizabeth does meet the breed standards, I took her with me to a cat show here in St Louis. I was told by all the sphynx breeders present that she was of great quality. I have also had 2 different health related test on her done through UC Davis, one for genetic heart disease which she does NOT have the gene for and a test to determine if she has the gene for Devon Rex, which she does not. These tests were recommended by her vet. I hope those were the right things to do.

She also needs to be scanned for HCM before you breed her and she should also be blood typed so you make certain that she is compatible with whichever stud you choose to use. You should most likely get a mentor.....breeding sphynx isn't easy and plently of things can and do go wrong. I hope you find a stud and a mentor to help you through the rough spots.
Good luck,
Susi and the gang
