I'm still alive! (Barely)
Due to nice weather, I've been run off my feet getting stuff sorted like veg patch, fence posts and fencing, harrowing, rebuilding and reorganizing the barn, getting the wood store ready for the winter wood...
Meanwhile, Pixie had a nice walk down the lane when the weather was warm enough, and both Livvy and Jezzy have been sitting outside in the sun one day (and loving it, of course). The new cockerel has a new found respect of me, due to a big stick and a healthy WHACK, after he decided my legs were fair game. He's giving me a wide berth now.
I've had 1.5 muck heaps collected by very grateful gardeners, dug out the fire pit and started a new heap where it can rot.
My radiator gave up, so I took it off the wall, disconnected the electric and then ended up having to sort out the wall again. Meaning filler, more filler and more filler to try and get the holes in it sorted, then I had to paint it... but you know how it goes. You never just paint one wall, so now the walls over to the kitchen have a fresh lick of paint. Of course that now means the doors look old and tired (and dirty even tho they aren't). New (used) radiator is mounted and working, the cats are not happy about this change, because they can't sit on this one. :p
Jezzy is turning into the ultimate cuddle machine. She insists on at least 30 mins in the morning, and now in the evening as well. If I could stop her from drooling all over the keyboard, and licking my glasses... that would be awesome lol. (I seriously need a sheet of plexiglas above the keyboard! EVERYONE is on it. Or sitting in front of the monitor.)
I've also helped another friend to move house, and she passed on some very nice storage racks to me, for which I'm very grateful. No idea where to put them atm, but they are safe in the barn for now.
4-5 eggs every day, so I'm having a protein overdose lol
Had a bit of a situation with a 10kg sack of Yarrah cat food. I started them on it... and they wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. Not even Squeaky wanted it, which is odd, as she tends to go for any food there is. Not this one. So I inspected the bag just in case, and found it had tiny little holes all over it. Guessing the feed is spoiled, that's why they don't want it. Got in touch with Zooplus, who after some investigation, and passing on batch numbers to the manufacturer, determined it's a one-off and refunded me. (Thank God, because it's not cheap!)
Well, not getting it again, just in case there was nothing wrong with it, other than it didn't taste nice.
You know who likes it?
The CHICKENS. Go figure.
Squeaky left me a dismantled mouse (seriously. It was in like 20 pieces, all over the doorstep. Very appetizing.). When I went to get rid of the bits in the morning, after doing the morning rounds (Chickens, horses, checking gates/fences/water etc)... I see Hennifer run across the yard with a chunk of mouse in her beak.
Yup. The chickens cleaned up the mess.
Livvy wanted to stalk (kill, eat...) Tilly, one of the new hens, the other day... and it didn't quite go as planned. The chicken charged, omg! Livvy was not pleased and figured it's safer on my shoulder lol. First Pixie chases her, now the chickens chase her... it's not fair. (Squeaky knows better than to go near the chickens. Pixie also learned that lesson when Thelma wanted to eat her tail, now Livvy is convinced that this is some kind of Bird from Hell.)
Jezzy is a little smarter. She sits on a bench and just angles with a paw...

Next few days are rainy, apparently, so I'll find stuff to do inside. Like finding the spot someone ralphed in the bedroom... I heard it, but no idea where it was. (BIG bedroom with lots of stuff in it...)

So that's it from me for now.

Man....imagine if one of the animals was writing this....."the human stole eggs from the chickens - again, the cock attacked the human but was beaten back with a broom, the cat food was spoiled so a mouse was sacrificed, the human tried to steal the mouse remains but Hennifer made off with them, the human destroyed stuff, and finally night fell and the human fell asleep but not before putting smelly stuff on the walls." Wowza.

ROFL!!
I think I have to continue my blog again... Critter Diaries. I posted from the perspective of the critters. :)
And the human put the electric on...and cleaned the chicken coop as well!

The human is working hard, so we're not.

While I'm chopping down a tree with my new toy (Stihl GTA26) that got knocked over in the last storm, there is a snoozefest on the front lawn.
Seriously, who'd ever want to be my horse? It's SUCH a HARD life...

Pixie has taken to scratching / pawing at the door like a mad cat because... sunshine! Never mind it's only 10°C. And now that we've been here 2 years... it seems to be perfectly acceptable to go off exploring in the neighbors barn!!

Henry wanted to go outside this morning which I thought was kind of cold for him because it was about 20 degrees. But actually, he was fine with it. However, whenever he's inside he's always burrowed under somewhere even though the inside temperature is about 25. How does that make sense?

Pixie used to sit outside in her sleeping bag as soon as there was sunshine. Temperature... who cares? She just wanted to be outside, that's all she cared about lol.
It's too cold for them atm, only about 10 degrees, but that doesn't stop the blighters from wanting to go out.
I'll never forget one summer in Bavaria, Pixie outside and a cloud moved in front of the sun.
Pixie looks at me and then up and then yells at me.
I stood there going "I'm not in charge of the sun. I can't turn it on or off at will."
More yelling.
"What do you want me to do? Push the cloud?"
Yelling.
Cloud moves away, Pixie looks at me as if to say "See? You CAN do it." and goes back to sleep...
So now she thinks I can turn the sun on and off at will.
I wish lol.
