I'm still alive! (Barely)
Due to nice weather, I've been run off my feet getting stuff sorted like veg patch, fence posts and fencing, harrowing, rebuilding and reorganizing the barn, getting the wood store ready for the winter wood...
Meanwhile, Pixie had a nice walk down the lane when the weather was warm enough, and both Livvy and Jezzy have been sitting outside in the sun one day (and loving it, of course). The new cockerel has a new found respect of me, due to a big stick and a healthy WHACK, after he decided my legs were fair game. He's giving me a wide berth now.
I've had 1.5 muck heaps collected by very grateful gardeners, dug out the fire pit and started a new heap where it can rot.
My radiator gave up, so I took it off the wall, disconnected the electric and then ended up having to sort out the wall again. Meaning filler, more filler and more filler to try and get the holes in it sorted, then I had to paint it... but you know how it goes. You never just paint one wall, so now the walls over to the kitchen have a fresh lick of paint. Of course that now means the doors look old and tired (and dirty even tho they aren't). New (used) radiator is mounted and working, the cats are not happy about this change, because they can't sit on this one.
Jezzy is turning into the ultimate cuddle machine. She insists on at least 30 mins in the morning, and now in the evening as well. If I could stop her from drooling all over the keyboard, and licking my glasses... that would be awesome lol. (I seriously need a sheet of plexiglas above the keyboard! EVERYONE is on it. Or sitting in front of the monitor.)
I've also helped another friend to move house, and she passed on some very nice storage racks to me, for which I'm very grateful. No idea where to put them atm, but they are safe in the barn for now.
4-5 eggs every day, so I'm having a protein overdose lol
Had a bit of a situation with a 10kg sack of Yarrah cat food. I started them on it... and they wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. Not even Squeaky wanted it, which is odd, as she tends to go for any food there is. Not this one. So I inspected the bag just in case, and found it had tiny little holes all over it. Guessing the feed is spoiled, that's why they don't want it. Got in touch with Zooplus, who after some investigation, and passing on batch numbers to the manufacturer, determined it's a one-off and refunded me. (Thank God, because it's not cheap!)
Well, not getting it again, just in case there was nothing wrong with it, other than it didn't taste nice.
You know who likes it?
The CHICKENS. Go figure.
Squeaky left me a dismantled mouse (seriously. It was in like 20 pieces, all over the doorstep. Very appetizing.). When I went to get rid of the bits in the morning, after doing the morning rounds (Chickens, horses, checking gates/fences/water etc)... I see Hennifer run across the yard with a chunk of mouse in her beak.
Yup. The chickens cleaned up the mess.
Livvy wanted to stalk (kill, eat...) Tilly, one of the new hens, the other day... and it didn't quite go as planned. The chicken charged, omg! Livvy was not pleased and figured it's safer on my shoulder lol. First Pixie chases her, now the chickens chase her... it's not fair. (Squeaky knows better than to go near the chickens. Pixie also learned that lesson when Thelma wanted to eat her tail, now Livvy is convinced that this is some kind of Bird from Hell.)
Jezzy is a little smarter. She sits on a bench and just angles with a paw...
Next few days are rainy, apparently, so I'll find stuff to do inside. Like finding the spot someone ralphed in the bedroom... I heard it, but no idea where it was. (BIG bedroom with lots of stuff in it...)
So that's it from me for now.
