Hello cat parents!
We've been considering relocating to the UK from Germany next year. As the mother of a Sphynx cat who often suffers from heartburn, finding the best medical feed for my baby is the most important quest for me before we move. My colleague mentioned that the majority of cat owners choose Royal Canin, which German vets advise against, especially for cats with sensitive stomachs. Therefore, it's unfortunately not an option for us. I've researched other top-recommended brands in the UK, but all of them seem to be more well-advertised than truly healthy. I'm predominantly looking for a feed that contains FOS (chicory) and is free of artificial sweeteners. German veterinary clinics often recommend their own vet-developed feeds specifically designed to help with upset tummies. These brands are not widely popular and can only be purchased from their clinics, but they are very effective.
Is this also a practice in the UK, or do vets primarily sell what the mass market suggests? If it's the latter, has anyone dealt with sensitive stomachs in their cats and found a suitable food in the UK? I'm eagerly awaiting your recommendations and would be glad to hear about your food-seeking journeys similar to ours!
Thanks in advance!
