hello All! We live in the south, but it does get cold here i n the winter - down to freezing & even the teens. Should I put a shirt on my Sphynx cats? Or is having warm blankets for them sufficient? I can just envision tee shirts getting tangled up on them or something else dangerous like getting caught up on something!

Lewis usually wears a vest or t-shirt most of the time, He has a jumper for particularly cold days. He doesn't mind them at all after all if i wanted a cat with fur i wouldn't have gone to all the effort to get Lewis in the 1st place. :Laugh:
He has never gotten tangled up nor hung himself, he did once pull his T-shirt off and hang it on a radiator pipe...lol

I used to live in Florida, and my boy would wear shirts and baby onesies (with a hole cut for his tail and potty parts.) He also had lots of blankets to suggle in. He has been known to take them off from time to time, but I have never had any other problems with them (other than finding the shirts) One took a year to find.

I think I'm going to get Elvis a nice sweater, or shirt for him to wear around the house. The ones he has are either too small or aren't very warm.
I'm so glad I didn't have him when I was living in Montana last year!! There were days when I would drive to school in -20 degree weather!!! On my birthday last year it never got above 8 degrees the entire day.
Add to that FEET of snow each day, it was such a pain. I love snow and all, but being cold is the one thing I hate most- and in order to leave the house we had to shovel the driveway a couple times per day!! In the bone chilling weather!!
Elvis would have hated it, even though I tried to keep the house pretty warm.
This year we won't have snow hit the ground really, but it still gets a little chilly with all the rain. I would hate for him to get a cold!!

It gets chilly here in So California too....I put sweaters on my sphynx and they have never gotten tangled in them. Although they know how to take them off when they get tired of them. they also have blankets around the house in which they can snuggle.

Marvin has a couple of sweaters/shirts and he also likes the outfits I crochet for him. I have never seen him get into a dangerous position by wearing anything, though. I have a friend who puts shirts on her hairless to "calm" her down. I have to admit that sometimes works on Marvin too!

Most of mine are 3-6 month, but I thin next time Im going to try 6-9month as for my bigger guys, its just alittle to small, just worried the other will be to big. You will have to make the body smaller, and cut a tail/ potty part hole. But they are really easy to make.and if you get the ones on Sale , really cheap. next time I go to Wal-mart, Ill look for the Halloween ones for next year. Or you can go to Good Will and get them for really cheap.
My boys have always worn sweaters during the winter months. One of them doesn't care too much for his sweater though, and walks around like he's got a 10 pound brick on his butt. They also have heated kitty beds, and warm fluffy blankets to help keep them warm. The rest of the year, I don't need to put anything on them.
