Just curious what those of you who have HCM or HOCM kitties are spending on meds. I've heard/read that it can be $40-$60 for a 3 month supply. Is that fairly accurate? Also, what meds do your kitties take?

No, Bean has not been diagnosed. She is fine. :)

ETA: Also, if you're kitties are on atenolol, do you do transdermal? Pill? How do you administer that or any other med every day?

Vito is on half a 5mg tab of benazepril daily. I get the benazepril at the human drugstore because it is cheaper.

My vet charges $16 to send an Rx to the pharmacy and then it costs about 55 for enough pills for 4 months. It's last time I got two refills so I only need to pay the vet fee one for a whole years worth of mess.

Diesel has been diagnosed with RCM/UCM, a form of heart disease.
The medicines are costly. I spend about 60 - 80 dollars on meds per month, depending where I purchase them . PETMEDS/ WALMART are the least expensive.

Diesel's meds are:

ENALAPRIL 2.5 #5 1/2 tab daily
FURSOSEMIDE/LASIX 10mg/ml 0.62 cc daily ( Have upped that.)
VETERMIN 1.25 daily
ASPIRIN 20 mg every third day or PLAVIX 18.75 daily

I have my burmese on atenenol and amlodipine. I have it compounded into a liquid. I pay about $60 dollars for the two every 2 months- but that is with my discount. I know the pills cost next to nothing.

Wow! That's a lot! Ash is on Atenolol, Enalapril, baby aspirin, and Clavamox pulse therapy for dental/heart health. I get the generic chewable baby aspirin from Walmart and that ends up about $4 for 10 months. His Atenolol and Enalapril I get from the pharmacy at the vet school where he goes for his echos and that runs about $40 for a 6 month supply. The Clavamox I get from his regular vet and that's about $20 for 3 months. I guess it might keep my costs lower because I'm getting my main heart meds from a vet school (NCSU) instead of a regular vet or a pharmacy.

Thank you, everyone. For a brief minute, it looked like we might take in an older sphynx with HOCM, but it didn't pan out. Still good information to have just in case.

We pay around $80 a month for Pekoe's meds. He went into heart failure and is diagnosed with heart disease. Ferosimide, forticor, plavex twice a day.
