It was FIP. I had to put baby Oliver down today after only having him for 5 days.... I am so devastated, it was horrible... RIP my sweet boy Oliver aka Chicken Boy...

I just read and replied to your last post about being at the vet and the horrible attitude of the breeder. There was nothing you could do so please don't feel too bad. You gave Oliver the love you could for the short amount of time you had him. RIP little guy. I am in tears now. I'm sorry. It's so unfair and sad but please find a place on your heart for another little guy. Have you contacted your breeder yet?

I am so sorry, but you did everything you could and gave him the best 5 days of his life. Stay strong and know we are all here for you!!!!
Reading about FIP, I don't see how the breeder could not give you another kitten based on the circumstances. Please keep us posted

Breeder says he will give me another kitten... Oliver was the last of his litter but there's another litter ready in about a month, i.actually was going to get another from that litter to be olivers companion but now i don't think i want her, she looks similar to him i don't think i cab handle it... I'm hurting so bad right now. Crazy how this little guy made me fall in love so fast... I'm a Christian so i prayed over him & told him to wait for me with Jesus... He was such a sweet boy...

How does a cat get FIP? Does she have a cat that is passing that to the others? Has she ever had another cat get FIP?
I would ask some more questions to make sure you don't have a repeat situation.

It's fecal/oral from what I've been told & he now has to get all his cats checked bc its super contagious so they will all be tested. I am planning on getting new cat on a Wednesday night & having vet check up prescheduled for Thursday (I'm off Thursdays)

I sent a response with some advice just a minute ago to your other post--am glad you ended his suffering. And glad your breeder stepped up to the plate and is replacing the kit. FIP is a particularly horrific disease and it is actually a mutation of the corona virus, which almost all cats have been exposed to. So sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for who gets it and who doesn't.

I am so sorry for you, I feel absolutely sick after reading both your posts. I keep seeing stories like this and it makes my heart hurt. I wish I had some comforting words of wisdom for you but all I can say is that I'm thinking about you and Oliver.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You gave him a loving home for the last days of his short time here which made you Oliver's angel on Earth. And, I would like to think that Oliver is looking over you now and your new kitty when it arrives.
