Munnkie is 5 months old now! I got him when he was about 3 months old as most of you know! I switched him to Better in the Raw the week after I got him. I have noticed that on and off the past two weeks he has had diarrhea and soft poop. I thought raw was supposed to help with that?? He doesn't seem upset at all. He is full of energy, gobbles up all his food and tries to steal anything else humans eat. I was nervous he had it because he got into human food, although I watched him like a hawk and he didn't get any other food and still had it. Any one else encounter this?? It isn't consistent enough for me to be really worried and rush him to the vet, humans get upset stomachs too. But I def am getting more concerned now that it doesn't seem to be going away. Btw his diarrhea is more of really soft and slimy poop (sorry for the visual), rather than has to go flying into his litter box to release something explosive.
Also for the raw I have been giving him ground beef with the water/powder mix.
Any advice or personal stories would help me a lot!!

Human food can surely cause diarrhea or any food change in general for that matter. As long as he is drinking water and staying hydrated I would think its perhaps an upset tummy, if it last more then a week or so, a vet visit wouldn't hurt.

Very common poo problem with sphynx taken me months to work out a balance of food that achieves med to soft and sometimes perfect poos. It's ongoing.

Human food causes Jinx to get colitis. Her poop will get mucousy. The vet puts her on metronidazole and probiotics and gives a shot of something I can't remember right now. If it's nothing medical like colitis or giardia then I would look at what meat you are using with the BITR.

I get the same thing when my two vultures manage to scavenge something.

Once I caught Dippy digging in the bin and last night Alfie ate a bit of mashed potato off the floor

Apart from that I have never had runny poop, if it doesn't let up and he is definitely not stealing bits of food I would check at the vet

What of treats do you feed him? I find that non grain free treats also mess with my two boys stomachs.

Sure hope you get to the bottom of what is going on.
You say this has been going on for two weeks.
I would definitely take him to the Vet asap.

It hasn't been everyday and now that I've read more posts I guess its not actually diarrhea, just slimy. He isn't lethargic and is eating all his food. I def don't want to waste money on a vet visit right now because I know all they'd give me is a stool firmer which I can get from natural products more like pumpkin.

Hmmm, maybe he is getting food I don't know about. I actually haven't been giving him any additional treats! He is just eating his better in the raw with beef. should I try chicken??

Hmmm. I am using beef because I heard a lot of sphynx have issues with chicken. I have given him chicken before, but not recently. Maybe I will make his next batch with chicken and see if that helps. It is def slimy, not really diarrhea now that I hear about what everyone else has said.

@MunnkieSphynx You could try but he has been doing so well with beef for a long time right? I would get his poop checked with the vet first to rule out any nasties. It sounds gross but you could bring along a sample of his mucous-y poop if possible to speed things up.

okay. yeah I don't want to rush him to the vet and pay for a visit when I am pretty sure they won't tell me much. I know its nothing serious because he has not changed his energy or anything and is eating all his food and I add extra water to his meals so he gets enough water and pees a lot! So he isn't dehydrated. I was going to try maybe chicken instead of beef?? He has been on the better in the raw food since I got him about 3 months ago.

Honestly I am not sure. He buries his poop perfectly. It might have been slimy this whole time...I have the litter robot so it filters the poop itself and when I clean it out all his poop is covered with litter perfectly so I can't ever tell! lol! I caught him pooping once last week and that was diarrhea and then last night it was just slimy.
maybe he really has just been getting into food every few days. He seems to be very mischievous and steals from my cooking pan even if its burning hot!

My two boys can only eat raw or they get terrible diarrhea. Even so, occasionally they will have a MUCH "softer" stool. Sometimes even the start of one will be firm and the end slimy (believe me, I am a poop watcher!) My boys always seem healthy and have good energy. I definitely wouldn't worry about an occasional soft poop if he's acting okay.

I hope you can get your baby settled with his food. I tend to agree with @admin , that he's probably ok if he's getting plenty of water. I would check with the vet to see if they could do a stool check without you having too do a full appointment yet. I think that most Sphynx people have some issues with food, and we find out what we can and can't feed by trial and error. We have tried to get everybody onto a raw diet, but Sydney hates it and Cleo wants her dry and canned food along with it, so we feed 3 different menus here.
While our furry cat can eat anything, both the Sphynxes have issues with diarrhea and food. The furry, Sydney refuses to let us change her favorite food, which has wheat gluten and other grains in it. But Marcus gets liquid, smelly, awful diarrhea with even the smallest amount of food with grains or gluten in it. He does great on his raw food with pumpkin added to it (1 teaspoon per feeding). He loves canned food, so we will give him some grain-free food that Cleo eats. But if he gets too much canned food, he vomits it and gets soft stools. All the cats get pumpkin in their canned or raw food.
Cleo can eat most foods all right, but she has issues with milk products. She is deathly allergic to all milk products, and will throw up, get diarrhea, hives and have trouble breathing. So we have just gotten really good at keeping the different cats and their foods seperate at feeding time.

Our youngest sphynx had a bit of a slimy poop problem too. Ate fine, played fine, high energy. I didn't see it being a health problem (and i knew it wasnt a stool parasite due to his initial checkup when i got him)so I thought to wait it out a bit, assuming that his body would adjust itself. After 3 months no luck, so I decided to take him to the vet they retested his stool (still negative),prescribed some meds and recommended feeding him a bit of yogurt for the probiotics. No more slime in the poop
