so i stumbled across this find on craigslist for a CRAZY reasonable/cheap price :Easy-money:
i plan on pimping it out with dangling toys and all kinds of fun colorful stuff for Dante to play with.
my only concern is the previous cat smell (if any) do you think Dante would have a problem with it? if so what could i use to remove the "other" cat smell
for the record i cant smell anything but know how these cats are

thanks for the input!

Thats awesome.. Just make sure its sturdy since it looks like they can hop back and forth and the piping design can get wobbly. As far as smell, No clue but I would just take a blanket or something that your baby uses that has his scent and rub it all over the thing.. Maybe try a neutralizer before?

It looks like you can remove the material from the pipes and wash them. I'd dry them flat instead of putting them in a dryer. I would also wipe down all those "pipes" w/water and soap to remove any "boogers" or smell. Don't use bleach! Just use dish washing liquid or even white vinegar and rinse with clean water....

Looks sortah like a homemade project type thingy???? I'm wondering if cats would even like it??? They like to hide out, scratch, or lay in hammocks.

Be sure to check for fleas if it's used! I remember a story here from a member who bought a used cat tree not long ago and her house and cat became infested with fleas:Dizzy:, i think it was bought from Craig's List! Looks promising though!

Lysol spray works wonders! I would spray the entire thing outside after washing it! Then after you spray it let it sit out side for a while if you can to air out.

I think it looks cool. Perfect for them to jump from landing to landing. It will look even better after you get done with it. Awesome. I can't pass up a good deal ethier. I'm sure Daunte will love it

i googled "cat condo pvc" and turns out there is website that makes these for $179-199 so im pretty happy about my find. Thanks for all the advice for cleaning and sanitizing it, Still have some time before Dante comes home to make sure its safe for him. I feel like i would notice by now but any signs to look for if it has fleas besides the tiny devils crawling/hopping around?

I'll post pictures when my cat condo transformation is complete but i plan to use fabric and craft some of the layers into cubby holes and maybe replace a leg with a scratching post. Thank goodness for a handyman boyfriend

Great find!
Definetely wash the mats or whatever they are. I would use hot water and then hang or set out to dry.
You can also spray it with cat nip spray to attract your cat to it.
I sprayed my cat condo with spray nip tonight and all 4 cats were crawling all over it, even the ones that ignored it before.

You can check for flea dirt.....if you shake the blankets out on a few paper towels and wet the paper towels and there are black dots that turn red when wet, that is prob flea dirt. Otherwise there is no way to tell, really.

If it does have fleas, it is no big deal, as long as you use "Advantage" topical oil from your vet, stat!!! And I want to stress ADVANTAGE, from your VET and STAT. Those 3 are key. You should treat twice (once a month for 2 months) all pets in the house, and vacume and empty the vacume outside.

I had fleas last year, with 2 cats and a big dog and treated with advantage twice and didnt even clean my house or vacume (cause I didnt have time) and the fleas were gone in a few days, no probs.

Cant wait to see your condo pimped out!

Looks like it would be great for an active cat! Gives him plenty of room to jump around and and play! Agree with others about the mats thought, check for fleas and wash before putting in your house! Don't want to let fleas loose in there!I would freak!

Can always take to car wash and power hose it down, or rent a steam cleaner if you have any doubts on flea eggs etc.

Nice find! Just be sure all the tubing is tight. Not sure what could be used to descent it from the previous cat. I think you should just put a blanket with your kitty's scent on it or perhaps sprinkle it with catnip, & let it sit there for awhile.
