How many of you wipe your cat's butt after he/she goes #2?
I am curious. I have some friends that say I should be doing that every time they go #2. What do you think? Do you? If so, what do you use to wipe them with?
This is a serious question.
Thank you.

I do when necessary, with a baby wipe, but since I've had her on raw diet Lilo hasn't had any "yucky" poos.

I did that after each poo for like her first month until things were a little more normal. Sometimes during the week I will wipe her down with a baby wipe and during that process I'll finish it up with her bum.

I think it just depends on you and your cat--to each their own. There's not right or wrong answer to this one

Haha, yea! Pru still has the mushy poos and every time she's done her business she runs away from me like a bat outta hell because she knows what's coming. She's cheeky about it too... she'll wait till I get a little bit closer and then run in another direction. I just use a little toilet paper that I dampened with some warm water.

I do if I see he has a "little something" there when he's finished. I use Boogie Wipes. They are saline wipes for little kids noses, but I use them for LOTS of things. They work really well getting the eye boogers off of Benjamin, also for cleaning his nails of the brown gunk. The wipes are alcohol free, and I swear by them.

I LOVE BOOGIE WIPES! They even get the dirt out of his little wrinkles.

Thankfully Max does not have loose stool issues but I think if you have a Sphynx and they all poo it's impossible for their bum to stay clean no matter what kind of poo's they have I give him a bath weekly and wipe his hinny as needed.

hi there,

i have 5 cats (1 of which is a sphynx). i don't wipe any of their butts. i bathe my sphynx once/wk using Mennen's Baby Magic Bath. i would think a regular baby wipe would be ok for butt wiping, but perhaps it may cause irritation after awhile. kitties usually take care of that area themselves, if they can reach it. try a baby wipe, but keep an eye on him. if irritation starts, then discontinue doing it, i would say.

This should have been a poll! I haven't really had to wipe Frank but he always has butt crust. I have literally scrubbed - not super hard but firmly - on his little turd cutter and it still stays. It's permanent grossness.

I wipe Misses poop shoot every couple of days or if she has a dingleberry or a messy poop I'll wipe her. I use baby wipes. She gets really smelly because she has real soft poo. She enjoys sticking her smelly behind in my face, so I have no choice but to wipe or smell poop. I think she considers that payback for the baths she gets.

Wow guys! These are some descriptive posts, hope you got your answer!

And I never wipe because Riley doesn't like people near her bum (except she doesn't mind tossing her bum in your face when your asleep or laying down) , so I clean it in her baths!

Lucifer does that as well, he'll just jump on his scratching post where I can't reach him! He hates to have his bum wiped, but sometimes it's just needed. I rather chase him around a bit than having him leave a surprise on my lap :LOL::LOL:

Oh, and I use baby wipes to get him clean!

Apply a little vaseline to the butt crust, let it sit for awhile and then wipe. Or you can put it on a little while prior to bathing. Works miracles on getting rid of butt crust!

Also works great if you put a little on the nose prior to bathing and washing nose/face. Works great to get the black oily crust off the nose.:Laugh:

I'm an occational wiper. My kitties HATE water!!!! (did i put enough emphasis on that?!.. or do i need to add more??)
Bea is ok with water but definitely doesn't like it. Winny and Bronx-e will TEAR me APART trying to touch them with ANYTHING wet. So, usually what i do is if i'm sitting and they come up to me with a dirty tush i'll spit *yes you heard me right* on a kleenex tissue and wipe. I use spit because its warm and doesn't get the tissue as wet as water.... don't ask.. lol i works for us!
but i don't wipe after every poo.

Sounds familiar  I do not wipe Frodo unless absolutely necessary because he hates it. Fortunately he has never ever got a diarrhoea and his butt is not especially smelly.

If you are concerned about hygiene/germs etc. I guess some bacteria is actually good for health ;) Swab from the phone, keyboard or salty peanuts in a club would probably be worst than Sphynx butt

Wipes at the ready. I have them right next to me. Shadow actually expects to get his bottom wiped. Sometimes his toes. I change his litter about every two days so he is pretty good about staying poop free. Sometimes we have a little situation with his tail getting in the way though. Poop swipe...Gail
