@SarahShambles How long has it been there? Does your baby lay on anything hot like cable box, radiator etc? It almost looks like a burn/scab from the pic especially due to where it is. Always when in doubt and can't figure it out, a trip to the vet will ease your mind.

I have seen marks like this from sphynx who have rested on very "rough" surfaces as well, like berber type cat posts, cat houses or trees - etc.

Oh no I thought it might be from sitting on something rough but the only places he rests are the window ledge..the bed..the bed frame..maybe the carpets are causing it :s maybe carpet burn? I just hope it's nothing serious he's got a very small one appearing on the other leg poor thing :((((

Our cat Alfie has some red areas in the same places.. not scabbed over brown though. He has very dry papery skin and I think something must rub at that area in particular, I haven't worked out what yet though.

I would just keep an eye on it and get it checked next time you visit the vet.

I need to take a pic of Nigel's back foot. He gets scabs on then every once in a while from what I believe is carpet burn from some hard core okay sessions. The he overgrooms the area.

I'll take a pic when he is awake in the morning to show you. It looks kinda like Nigel's except darker.

Okay. So Nigel's spot softened up last night so I can't take a pic for you... But if it is carpet burn or anything like that you can try my Burt's bees salve method or they have paw salves in pet stores that should help.
