So tell me what your Sphynx does and how often. Mines happen to try to drag me out of bed in the morning when he wakes up. He will also nip me when he's mad at my husband (he's trying to take me out first before he works up the courage to take my husband out) or when he's really hyper and playful. He nips all day long, even when I try to sleep.

No, Vito never does anything like that. He doesn't even wake us up to eat most of the time. The only exception is if we sleep in extra late. Then he just trills at us and sits on us. Then he will stick his butt in out faces or walk on our faces

I get nipped during the night if I am not moving fast enough to pull up the blankets for her to move on in to my belly area to sleep (usually after her 4 am crunchy snack). Then after breakfast and some purr sessions 6 -7am, my right hand is beat until I leave for work. She can bite hard. This happens again when I get home and she wants more attention past the 30 mins of lazer pointer play.

Repeat, rinse, repeat! This is my kitten. :Dizzy:

Oh yeah I forgot to add that Pebbles will sit and stare at me in my face (We are currently sleeping on a Queen size air mattress) when I am sleeping. If I don't wake up when my alarm goes off, he will nip me hard on my cheek or nip my forearm and try to drag it. Sometimes he will climb on my head and sit there or he will seriously do his little "I'm being immature" stomp on my head. If I refuse to wake up, (because I like to snooze 3 times before I finally get up) he will look for anything that makes crinkling sound and play with it in the bedroom, which irritates the heck out of my husband. In the end, if I still refuse to wake up after 3 snooze, (because I reset the alarm) he will leave and then come back and restart the cycle when the alarm goes off again.

I picked both nip, bite and other.

My Fluffy nips at your nose in the mornings when she wants you to get up. She also paws at your face, and particularly in your ears at the same time. Also, she gets one little claw up your nose and YANKS at it until you wake up. Then, she too will sit on your head and face and tries to smother you with her little pouch of belly fat. Then, when she is playing, she will come at you with just her back feet and stomp on them and scratch at them with just her back feet, like she is digging a hole with her hind legs.

Moses will playfully bite when he playing rough with you, and just at your hand or arm. He never does any damage and stops after a few love BITES.

Dorian usually only nips during play time, but last week he was kneading/suckling on my tummy and nipped me! I said ow and pulled the blankets up to look at him, where he then made eye contact and did it again! The little butthead. :Hysterical:

Other than that, if I don't pull the blanket up fast enough for him to get into bed, he'll paw at my head and eventually put a paw on my eye if I'm slow. He's pretty good about not hurting me though

Pharaoh will nip sometimes. Sometimes when he's "being lovebug" he climbs on me and wraps his arms around my neck and starts licking my face. He will then grab onto my cheek...he never grabs hard enough to hurt. I will then gently nip him back in the cheek, lol.

I used to give them treats in the evening and in the morning....until they decided that 5am was an appropriate time for treats. I do grocery management and often my shift ends at midnight so 5am is never an appropriate time for anything. They used to take turns marching back and forth across my face until I would wake up...often stepping right into my eye. Morning treats don't happen anymore sorry to say.

Boone only nips/bites when he is in an extra excitable & playful mood, or when I give his belly a love pinch. When its quiet time and if I'm petting him lightly, he will sometimes nip/lick/nip. I think its a sign of his affection for me.

When I come in from the cold, if I touch him with my cold hand, he clearly shows his dislike. On the other hand, my nose is very cold. He will rub his face and neck all over my nose... as if he is trying to warm me up. My lil' buddy. Love him soooo much:Smile:

I am the one who allows Bella to bite and play hard with me. My husband doesn't allow it. So when we are playing and she turns into CRAZY KAT! She attacks me from every direction and bites me hard....I'm trying to calm her down (She's 6 mos old), but she loves to bite my hands and feet. I hold her and she rips off my glasses and will paw at my face....then if you get too close....BAMMM she nip my face and then I get all mad and yell telling her "NO FACE BELLA NOT THE FACE" thinking she understands and my husband is in the background laughing at me....you can just picture it now.......it is pretty funny. But I love her to death.

I feel really fortunate that Mr Vito has only ever bitten by accident when playing or eating out of my hand. Especially considering that he is declawed as many declawed cats are notorious for biting habits. It seems to me that many Sphynx bite.

Yup, sounds exactly like Pebbles. Pebbles does the same exact thing and he's currently about to be 9 months old and he still hasn't broken the habit. He's so bad. My husband doesn't allow it and well, Pebbles show more respect to my husband than me. He doesn't try to bite my husband or play with him but when it comes to me, he play attacks me from every direction and I actually come out with cuts and scars. For some reason, Pebbles know that my husband is more dominant than him, like if my husband walks right next to Pebbles, he will quickly lay on his side and roll over to show his belly. He will even make a eek sound, like telling my husband to forgive him. I just laugh because it looks so pathetic. :Hysterical:

Another thing is that Pebbles will run away from my husband if my husband stalks him. He will run really fast with his tail between his legs and his ears flatten. He'll try to do his halloween trademark but ends up speeding out the room. My husband never laid a hand on him and neither do I, but apparently I guess Pebbles know who's the dominant one in the household.

I guess he sees me as his playmate because we don't have another animal in the house. My other two dogs are with my parents and Pebbles has a lot of toys but he prefers playing with me since I actually do move. He just loves gnawing on my arm and wrist and I'll let him do it but when it comes to my legs/ankle/feet, that's a no no.

I've never really believed in declawing my pets, (I read an ad in the newspaper that says a Doberman was declawed and the asking price was $500. Wth?) because the whole point I am getting the pet is because of what it is. I like when Pebbles show his claws. He's being what he is, a domesticated cat that uses it's claws to climb things, attack or defend itself. That's really nice that Mr. Vito bites by accident. Pebbles does it by accident too when I give him a treat and he think's it's between my fingers when it's on my palm. I have a friend of mines that has a declawed cat that has never bitten him and has great temperament. I was really shocked too because like you say, declawed cats are notorious for biting habits since they can't defend themselves without their claws. How old is Mr. Vito? Oh wait, lol. I can check your profile for that. Pebbles is about to turn 9 months and he still acts like he's 4 months old. I told him a couple of times that he needs to grow up if he wants to attract the ladies. (He's neutered but it was a joke between us)

Hi Snowball,

I don't believe in declawing either. We got Vito almost 4 months ago and he came to us that way. I know in many places it is illegal and the lady that was going to use Vito as a stud didn't because she couldn't show him as a result of being declawed. I don't know why she didn't return him but I'm glad she didn't because now he is ours.

I can't wait to experience owning a Sphynx kitten. You must be having south fun with Pebbles

Aww what a bummer! I think it's really crude to declaw an animal. You must be getting a lot of evil glares from the people at the vet because they probably think you decided to declaw Vito. I know people give me the dirty look when I bring my chihuahua who always has overgrown nails that get freakishly long (I don't live with my parents and I live in another state, so it's really hard flying back and forth to bring the dogs to the vet) to get her nails cut. The last time I was at the vet, everyone came out and told me I was being crude to the dog because I waited until her nails were so long to get it cut. They should be glad I even flew back to bring the dog to get her nails cut! Both my parents work during the day and the office closes around 4, which my parents get home at 3 and by the time they bring the dog to the vet, it's closed. The only reason why we bring the chihuahua to the vet is because they do a better job cutting the nails than the groomers.

I was irritated with everyone at the clinic. I told them I had to fly in from another state which cost me about $400 for the plane tickets, just to bring the dog to get her nails cut. One of them sympathizes with me but the rest just glared at me and told me to tell my parents to find the time to do it. These people should be glad that people like me actually cares about pets and not like the ones out there who doesn't even take their pets to the vet or do anything for them. Sheesh!

Oh I am having a blast with Pebbles, except the constant hard biting, play fighting and begging me for food. I found out he actually plays tug-o-war with me and he chewed the stuffings out of his snowman stuffed animal. He has a pink stuffed animal bunny that's the same size as him and I'm starting to see threads being riped out, I hope your Mr. Vito gives you many joy like mines does. I told my husband that Pebbles is the current love of my life and how much I love him more than my husband.

When I 1st got Rapunzel she nipped out of the blue a lot, she responds very well to , NO! Now she might nip playing but I try to stop that buy saying no and stop playing with her. She also has learned what in the house is ok for chewins and whats not. But chicken is fair game. My friends think its cute to let her gnaw on fingers but I ask them not to. Guess Im a strict parent.
