I do them annually, although this year, I will be moving Emma Leigh's from July to August so that she and MiniE can be on the same annual schedule. The procedure is pretty simple as far as I understand. I just dropped off Emma and hung around the area for a bit until they called me to say she was ready. They gave me all the results that day (negative thank goodness).
We found a vet in the area (thanks to RetroKitty) that does multiple cats at a discounted rate and I met her up there to include Emma as part of her group so the total cost for me was 280 which my insurance covered.
My MiniE has a 5 year HCM guarantee, but part of that guarantee is getting her scanned every year.
