Hi everyone,

I am excited to be here and connect with fellow Sphynx lovers! I have always admired this unique and affectionate breed, and I am looking forward to learning more from experienced owners.

At the moment, I do not have a Sphynx of my own, but I am seriously considering getting one. I would love to hear your experiences, especially about their care, personality, and the funniest things they do. Any tips or advice for a first-time Sphynx owner would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to chatting with all of you and seeing lots of adorable Sphynx photos!

Welcome and good luck on your search…it’s definitely important to research. There are many backyard breeders and scammers these days. Hoping this info helps you.

Hello! Welcome to the Lair!!! I have been owned by sphynx for over a decade now. I'm so happy that you are doing your research and so interested in learning more. Sphynx really are a unique and fun breed. They come with a lot of specific quirks and such that make them simply special. Of course researching a good qualified breeder is key. Just be careful. So so so many scams are out there. Health issues do also pop up in this breed so definitely something to research. Overall I think doing as much research as possible is the best thing. I got my first sphynx, Smaug, as a rescue. I knew some but the knowledge I've gained over the years has been amazing. I attribute so much of that to this group. Keep learning!

@Gareth Edward , welcome to the lair family! I joined this wonderful family over a decade ago with my first and never looked back. So much care, support, knowledge. Sphynx imho are cat, dog, monkey, baby all in one for life. very busy buddy and velcro. incredibly smart. I am glad you are doing your research. I have all adoptees and always try to help hearts align. several of us have adopted from members and or purchased from a reputable breeder. be sure to read the fraud tips link and responisble breeder link shared above. When you are ready, do not hesitate to post a looking for thread in the adoption section and or a post recommending a reputable breeder.

jump in and enjoy this fun friendly bunch. the sphynx info center is a wonderful resource for sphynxlife. the top right search box helpful to find previous topics/threads.

do you have any furbabies? if so, would love to see pics. all paws are family.

Hello and welcome. SL is a brilliant site for picking up advice on these wonderful little beings ( I learned so much lurking behind the scenes before finally making the jump and becoming "owned " by two marvellous sphynx) . They certainly are different in many ways , not least in (usually) their desire for human company , they really can be velcro cats . It sounds like you are already doing one of the most important things before deciding if you want to share your life with a sphynx , and that is research . It's also useful to find out if you have a good vet in your area (if you don't know already) . Good luck in your search
