FHV?

I have a 4 month old Sphynx who’s eyes seem squinty a good amount of the time, they have a little drainage ever so often, but nothing big. When I got her about 3-4 weeks ago, she was coughing atleast a couple times a day. My vet thought it may be FHV so we started LLysine and did the Terramycin ointment and optixcare plus. Her coughing has basically gone away completely however her eyes are still pretty squinted and occasionally they seem red around the edges. I took her to my vet where they suggested either doing a feline respiratory PCR, which costs me over $300, or starting Famciclovir. However when we started talking more she was hesitant on giving the meds because she said it can alter results if we wanted to do a PCR in the future. I’m really struggling to believe it’s FHV if her only symptom is that her eyes seem squinty and red on occasion. Also, I noticed when I looked back at breeder pics it’s been going on since the beginning of April and doesn’t seem to change much.

Does anyone have any experience or advice with this? Thank you in advance!

I do recommend the PCR test. It will help diagnose the root of the issue and then they can prescribe the right meds. It could be herpes, but did vet say a chance of possibly being Chlamydia?

No, the vet has only talked about herpes. I guess I just wasn’t sure that it would present only in her eye symptoms. There is another vet a little further away that is pretty specialized with cats that I thought about taking her to. This vet didn’t seem super confident in most of the questions I was asking.
