While every week I clean feets and ears, I only fully bathe every 3-4 weeks (with a once weekly wipe down in between). Tonight was the first full spaw night -- feets, ears, and body.
While Max isn't keen on the bathing part, he still falls asleep in my lap when I clean his ears, and clips nails & clean paws. My order is: ears, feets, and full bath. Although bath is a bit of a misnomer -- it's more of a soap down with exfoliating gloves, warm water, and HyLyt, followed by rinsing with warm water from a small tub with a cup and wash cloth.
Min is still not keen on the ears and feets, but she's getting better. Once she's a little settled she's fine. Tonight she really disliked the ear cleaning, but we made it through. Having been down this road with Max (a few times while a kitten he kicked up a fuss), I was confident and wrangled that cutie kitten who squirmed in her purritoed state. Like her brother, she's not fond of water, and disliked the paw soak (prior to claw clip and clean). Again, I managed. But during her "bath" -- oh boy! I hadn't heard that distressed cry of hers since she first came to our home. Max came running over and stretched his front paws up my leg and gazed up at me with concern in his green eyes. It was adorable. I told Max that I was giving Min a bath, just like him, and that all was well. He really seemed to understand and then sat back and watched the rinsing of Min.
Thankfully Min forgives me in minutes. She quickly rebounds and then races around in play.
And now I have two very clean, soft, coconutty smelling nakeds! And they're grey and pink with white instead of brown-grey and brown. LOL. Actually they do pretty well. I've noticed that since Min started grooming Max that he is easier to clean on a weekly basis. ha! And her ears are darned near perfect (but then I've witnessed Max just going to town, cleaning her ears for prolonged periods... ewww).
Min is sadly still chewing on towels and blankets. I've only put out ones I don't mind destroyed along with the ones she already has destroyed. She's getting better, but we can't supervise her 24/7. She's receptive to diversion with the many bananas and other toys I have around for teething. I really hope she gets out of this phase eventually. I want my Doctor Who bankie, darnit!
Max has gained some bulk since Min's arrival. I think he felt that she was going to be a big girl so decided to start "working out". LOL. He feels a little longer, wider, and definitely heavier (not fat, but muscle). He's eating a full pound of raw per day (oy vey). Min is eating about the same -- I've no idea where she puts it, but it's cute to see her waddling around after a meal!
Min seems to get cuter and cuter, cuddlier and cuddlier, with each passing day. She and Max have deepened their relationship and understanding of one another. They do things together and separately, both very comfortable now. In the mornings I get snuggles with both of them. At night Max tends to cuddle with Hubby and Min with me. In bed, it's Max under the covers with me and Min in her bed. Max will eventually wind up in his bed, next to Min's. Although I smile from ear to ear when I find them in the same cave bed in the morning when I wake. They're so darned cute.
ETA: Having a second naked seems to only add about 30 minutes to my cleaning regimen. With Max alone it was 1 hour, but with both it's 1.5 hours, meaning I spend a half hour in prep and clean up time. This makes me happy. On the other hand, making raw food every two weeks instead of once month... LOL. It's all good.
Any way... if you've read this far, congratulations. I'm just a proud Sphynx Momma.
And here are some pics for @Toa and Ross ... just because.
