As if my heart isn't shattered enough for being there with my mom yesterday to give Jeffery his angel wings, This morning it was suddenly my Turn :(

to be Raven's voice with peace and dignity (just recently celebrated her 20th birthday in January)

This morning started like any other day with Raven and still grieving for Jeffery.

Raven ate all her food, went for her walk on her harness n lead and we came back on the pool lanai. She meowed more than her usual chatting , today a different voice.
She walked several times in and out of the litter box , no output.... my heart sunk. I knew... I called my vet asap. Raven then came out of the litter box and there was blood and she laid down and I saw more blood and she began open mouth breathing. My heart sunk deep and deeper as I rushed her to the vet.

My long time vet met me and she told me I was not doing the wrong thing. suspect ruptured kidney , etc.

Raven passed in my arms surrounded by all my love with her paw in my hands with her fav yeowzz banana and fav treats.

Raven was the best cat. I was her person.
18 yrs ago she jumped out of a furniture delivery truck across the street and immediately started following me and my 2 rotties Max and Duke walking and talking on the sidewalk. she followed us all the way around the block.

I contacted the furniture company about their last stop. I called and the nasty lady answered I am not coming to Edgewater, keep that damn cat. I asked about her , she told me she was 2 and spayed and hung up the phone, never told me this sweet cat's name,

So , on that very day, I petted her and named her Raven and told her she is here to stay in my heart and home.

she always was more like a dog than a cat, She has been my rock on life's journey in the past 20 yrs.

I never saw it coming this morning, she had her breakfast, followed along the pool cage as I took Gunnar and Tillie out. Then as always she talked and waited for her turn to go for a walk, patiently waiting for me to put on her voyager harness and Gunnars leather puppy leash.

we had a walk, she always walked at the heal position and I would tell her to "roll" and she did for petting and loving rubbing on my hand.

everything was fine, until it wasn't.

Fly free sweet Raven with all your sweet beloved friends from home here and the lair family angels

"Until Then".... I was blessed you chose me to be your forever mum, your person.

Dearest YodaMom…there are no words to convey my condolences for the loss of your dear Raven … and then to find that Jeffery had crossed the bridge as well. We have to hope that the members of the zoo we have lost here are relaxing and playing in each others company remembering the fine life that you gave them all on earth
and the dignity with which you let them move on as they needed to. Hard as it must be, stay strong for your mom and Gunnar and Tillie…and do as you always admonish us to do … which is to take care and love yourself as well. We are all loving you and with you in your sorrow. Beyond hugs…

Tammy the loss on this one has to feel differently. Your relationship with Raven was based on choices…yours to give her a forever place to call home and for her to accept that love from you and your zoo not because she had to, but she wanted to. Fly high Raven…you be awaited by some of your best buddies for sure when you cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Oh Tammy, I woke up realizing I am quite losing it…you also have to stay strong for Claire Bare and Batman…and for your own sanity. My immediate thought was for Raven’s two closest outdoor buddies. You still have a bunch ;-). Lucky bunch I may add. Comfort and peace. This is a lot. We are all here for you as you always are for us all. Lair love.

@Catzzzmeow , thank you for you kind words and perspective. so true. When she jumped off that truck that day, neighbors could not believe she ran to me and my rotties and walked with us all the way around the block. She did it regularly in her younger days and in this small community everyone knew Raven and she loved stopping to be petted by neighbors on our walks. She was known as the Mariners Gate ambassador cat.
I posted in our community fb group and so many neighbors shared stories of how she hit the lottery in my heart and home and enjoyed watching me walk her everyday on her harness and leash.

My neighbor Jan and David (Fl snowbirds) asked me to stop at their house yesterday.

They gave me the most beautiful paw print mug filled with the most fragrant white flowers , chocolates and a card addressed to me and my mom for the passing of Jeffrey too.

My other neighbor Joan who volunteers at the humane society I donate to often , surprised me with a rainbow Raven with wings from one of my favorite photos.

Yes, Raven's passing feels different for the very reasons you wrote and she is the oldest cat that filled my life with love. She surely was my rock on the journey of life for the past 20 years.

She lives in my heart forever and ever. Blessed she chose me to be her person.

So much loss. I'm deeply sorry you're going through this again. But what a wonderful story about how Raven came into your life and the lives of the zoo. Oh, to be chosen like that. We should all be so lucky. Big hugs to you all.

Dear Tammy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Raven was and always will be a special presence in your life and certainly knew what she was doing when she chose you . It seems you have had more than your fair share of heartache recently , which in a way is also reflection of your capacity to love so much Just know that there are many hearts and minds out here thinking of you and sending comforting hugs across the miles . Take care and wishing you nothing but peace and comfort
