Food Recommendations

Maximus, there are just too many foods to analyze all at one time. Felidae is a great food. I wish they used other proteins than chicken, though.

For someone looking for a good food in a decent price range--it's a great choice!

here in Latvia Felidae and Orijen are about the same price, so I choosed Orijen

I had a heck of a time when I first got Sammie and Lily. Had tried so many of the high quality foods - Wellness is a good food - if your cat can handle it. Neither of mine could. I ended up feeding Primal chicken or turkey raw food. It has been an absolute miracle for my girls. Never thought I'd be so happy to see perfectly formed hard poop! And no smell. I know raw isn't for everyone, but in my situation, it was the only thing that worked. Sammie & Lily had horendous diarrhea, and horrible smelling too. And I feel that they get more water with the raw then they would be with a dry kibble. But again...this is just what worked for my girls. I cannot imagine ever going back to a dry kibble for them. Not after having to deal with loud, stinky, explosive diarrhea!

After following your story with Sammie and Lily here (I was dealing with soft stool with Nelson, but not nearly as bad as your guys) and also following some other people's success stories, I decided to try raw. It's been a blessing for me, too - no more soft stinky poop and Helen's dry skin is getting soft and shiny.

I'm feeding Primal, too. Just curious, how much do your girls weigh and how much are you feeding them? I feed according to the bag but they still act like they're starving to death. (4 nuggets for the boys and 3 for the girls). It's only been a couple of weeks, so I'm sure they still just need to adjust...

Also, have you tried Petco for Wellness Core? They're selling it now in Oklahoma. You might check locally to see if they have it. Just read over the fact that you're having difficulty finding it. Their website should also have a distributor locator.

My Petco sells it. I just switched George to Wellness Core and Wellness Salmon. He typically is not keen on switching his foods, but he immediately devoured the bowl like it was treats. Plus his poo isn't horribly stinky anymore!

I also feed raw-- switched over about two weeks ago. I buy salmon oil and a dry supplement from Feline Instincts (online) and add it to my own liver and meat source. I have used turkey, beef and chicken so far and my cats gobbled it up from the first day. The supplement is egg yolk, vitamins, taurine, and AAFCO approved . I mix enough for my nine cats in just a few minutes. I agree with PittRottMommy--the poop is great!

I need to find a food for Cleo.
I havea problem with her right now.
She is fine on Royal Canin kitten food but Royal Canin 33 is bad for her.
I tried to put her on it again and now she has hives all over her paws and sides. What can I try she has a show next sunday?

It's recommended to do a cold switch if you're going to a raw food. Without much time, I'd recommend trying raw. Do you need help finding a distributor?

BTW, hives likely indicate a food sensitivity. I would recommend not switching back, if you can help it.

If you don't want to try raw, definitely would go with something grain-free.
