Thanks for the heads-up, @Yoda mom !

@April Bishop, you're such a great person for doing so much for this found baby! If you need a foster or if the owners don't show, let me know!! I'm in Houston and would be happy to help care and cuddle!
Would you be interested in adopting her? I only want her to go to a home that already has sphynx, and preferably someone who would send me updates... I just want to find the best home and the Humane society officially gave me the go ahead to find her a home. The owners are known for being careless... so in the end I’m glad they didn’t contact me.

... so in the end I’m glad they didn’t contact me.

Sad but true.

This is a little similar to how I got one of my Sphynxes (the sealpointed one in my avatar). Let me be clear she wasn't lost; she was adopted into a home with a Bengal which was much bigger and they would tussle. Then on top of that, the husband in the family didn't want cats in bed so imagine, they were trying to sleep and this cat is crying just outside their bedroom door. It was the wife's cat though so she had to agree to give her up. When I came along she told me she had told several people no already, but I met all her requirements. I went to pick my girl up the very next weekend before anybody changed their mind just in case. It's worked out great.

Another update, we took her to the vet and she has a clean bill of health from a general exam. She is such a sweet baby, our friend from the humane society has a meeting tonight and they are gonna discuss how long before she is considered relinquished. I have no idea how the laws/rules work here. Thank you everyone, you’ve made this experience wonderful and knowledgeable thus far.

This beautiful girl needs a loving home soon

The people I rehomed her to are my good friends and selfishly I’ll still be able to visit her they are both prior vet techs and she fit right in, they already ordered her a custom sweater .

I totally understand you not sending her back to the owners but at the same time it wouldn't surprise me if they come asking for her since they paid for her. I would just be very nice to them. Hope Salami has a great life with her new family and they'll treat her like a princess. Thank you again for looking out for her.

I honestly don’t care if they come looking for her, legally I got the go ahead and they had her as an outdoor cat.... I would never be able to live with myself if I returned her to them. Also luckily my husband is kinda scary looking so I would just have him deal with them

She’s absolutely amazing! She is the sweetest and most cuddly cat I’ve ever met. We all love her so much. My son said this morning “she’s the best cat ever!”

@Salami Mommy welcome and thank you for giving Salami a permanent home!

She might be an escape artist like one of mine. Sometimes mine will be standing around my feet waiting for me to open the door. I think she thinks it's a game. I make it a point to eyeball her (and her sister) before I open the door. Sometimes I have to stand there saying "no" over and over until eventually, my "wild child" cat walks away from the door. She understands but she just wants to get outside. Be warned!

@April Bishop you did the exact right thing for this beautiful sphynx girl. The coconut oil not only cleans them of their oils but would definitely soothe her sunburnt skin.

If it’s been this many days... I would think that the owners are not overly concerned (I could be wrong)... I’m just saying... if it would have been one of my girls.... I would not eat... I would not sleep.... I would do nothing but search absolutely everywhere... I would not rest till my girl was found. A bit dramatic I know but I love my babies so much and I would be distraught.

I am DYing to know how many days it will be until she is considered relinquished. It sounds like you have definitely done your research and I am soooo glad because there are a ton of people out there looking for a sphynx that have absolutely no idea how much upkeep they take and how much money and patience they can take if health is rocky. My Gretta has IBD (completely under control now) but it was terrible when we went through it. We spent a fortune on vet bills. I never gave up and never would. Now she’s as healthy as a horse (besides being a bit heavy). Also.... some people may try to sell her. Sphynx kittens are very expensive and there are a lot of sick idiots in the world.

If she is relinquished... I would love to be considered as her new mommy. I’m in Evansville a Indiana.... so I know it’s a drive but I would be happy to make it. I would be more than happy to stay in touch and send pictures and videos and vet updates very often.
