Toothy was able to be tested yesterday for clearance to come out and meet the others. Now it's waiting for the results. Normally we'd get the results in 2-3 days and he'd be out by this weekend, but our vet is sending this sample to be tested by the vet that has been doing a major study on TriTrich for years and wrote the "owner's guide" on it. This means we won't be getting the results until the end of NEXT week! UGH! He's been in isolation so long! We are dying to let him out, poor guy! :Sad: And hubby and I haven't slept together in all this time, 'cause one of us sleeps in the room with him.

Awh sorry to hear that poor Toofy cannot come out to play just yet,dont worry all this waiting will be soooo worth it in the end. The days when you can take photos of them all snuggled together is near! Fuzzy sisters send lots of purrs and headbutts to You and the gang! :BigSmile:

Uuurgh! That is VERY frustrating. Did you consider asking him to just send it the easy faster way? Or couldn't he have sent one to the doctor and one to the lab. Poor toothy. I hope next week comes quicker than quick too.

I can totally sympathize and understand your frustration. Remember though, that this is way harder on you and your hubby than it probably is on Toothless. The life that you have given him so far is probably way better than anything he has ever experienced. He is so lucky to have you! Hopefully this extra time will fly by and things will finally be as they should.

I would ask vet to do it normal route if he then wants to send it to that person he can do so as well I really wouldn't make toothy wait when the normal route would be just as accurate I'm sure but that's my 2 cents worth which is probably not worth much lol

Unfortunately if I had him send it to both I'd have to pay for the test twice and it ain't cheap. But I ended up not having much choice 'cause it was hubby that took Toothy in to obtain the sample and I found out about the delay after it was all over. :Frown: Which is why I hate hubby taking them in without me. Now we can't have the quicker test run without giving Toothy more "runs" medicine and subjecting him to another sample collection (which isn't from the litter box). Our vet had a phone conference with this other vet (who happens to be at NCSU) about if the testing sample really needed to be runny or not (based on her instructions in the Owners Guide) and I guess she convinced him he needed to send the test to her instead of the lab he sent the original sample to. :Worn-out:

On a positive note, I did just see on this vet's website that the cost of the test goes towards the TriTrich reasearch and they actually run two PCR tests on the sample to ensure accuracy. So I guess the extra wait can be worth it.

That's an awesome positive note!! I also hate when my husband goes to vet visits without me. Like I have no control and definitely no say but in toothy's case it's all worked out well. Now to just wait for the end of next week. Crossing fingers and paws for good results :BigSmile:

I hope that the week flies by for all of you, it sounds like the extra wait will be worth it. Toothy's going to be out and with the rest of the family soon! I'm sure he's happy and knows how loved he is even in isolation, he's going to think he's in heaven when he comes out! You guys are such wonderful kitty parents! <3

I'm sorry you have to wait longer. I agree that it is probably harder on you than Toothy.

You will have to make some special plans once you are able to leave Toothy alone with the others. Just some special time for you and hubby!

:LOL::LOL::Wink2:

We didn't want him to be alone all day while we were at work, get visits in the evening and then be alone again all night, so one of us (I will admit it is usually hubby, 'cause Toofy adores him & his beard - and Ash is my baby & used to sleeping in my arms) sleeps on the futon we have on the floor in the "isolation ward". They're our children and are spoiled rotten!
