We were told our latest foster was spayed… But I’m not buying it Does she look suspicious to anyone else? She was sooooooo thin and has been really difficult to to get eating, plus so.so.much.diarrhoea. I don’t think I’ve seen her poop anything even semi solid. Finally found a kibble she’ll eat and even got her eating Royal Canin digestive while we wait for the Hills rx food. Her appetite is in overdrive the past few days! She ate a full 3 oz can several times since last night (and luckily has not exploded with poop to my relief). Is Kitten full of souplings?

Typically we do see that type of swelling around the nipples due to hormones/not being spayed or pregnant. Normally you can see a small scar where the incision from spaying was performed. Can you see it?

The pictures are suggestive of her not being spayed. She may be in heat or pregnant. Do you have vet paperwork confirming spay? Can you see the scar from spay incision on her belly? If not vet check up soon.

@Poodlemum ,agree with replies.

I personally would take to vet and rule out if pregnant/hormonal. increased appetite can be sign of pregnancy

sharing: intact female cats, dogs, not bred can be risk of life threatening pyometra. (there are two types, open and closed pyometra.)

there is also something called an incomplete spay:
An incomplete spay in cats, also known as ovarian remnant syndrome, occurs when a portion of ovarian tissue remains in the body after a spaying procedure (ovariohysterectomy). This remaining tissue can continue to produce hormones, causing the cat to exhibit signs of heat (estrus) even though the uterus has been removed.

some do laser spay incisions, side flank incisions or abdominal spay incision.

hugs n head smooches, following closely for updates

I don’t think I can see one, but I also can’t on our oldest one either who is definitely spayed

The rescue we’re fostering through was told she had been spayed but don’t have any actual paperwork for it. They’ve made an appointment for her to be seen next week

Oh that’s all very interesting! Lots of neat info, thank you. I’ll definitely have to check for a side incision as well. So far she’s not ever shown signs of being in heat (from what I’ve read). I just worry so much for her because she’s so tiny and I can’t imagine pooping so much would be good for any kittens. Even though I immediately clean out the boxes after any poop, she prefers puppy pads in the bathtub Hopefully they can do a spay abort if needed.

Another hungry beyond all reason day for Miss Kitten, looks like her milk has come in. 9oz of wet food just tonight and she’s not really been interested in her dry food today. More interested in giving purrs and very needy This really isn’t a good week for kittens… My older girls are competing at the county fair all week, but my mom will be home with the others. Please keep them in til Sunday! Still not too big in my opinion, so hopefully not fully ready to pop
