Fun Friday Cat Fact of the Day 1-4-19

They say you learn something new every day. Well, did you know there is a word for when an animal grooms another animal of the same species. It is called allogrooming. Allogrooming often occurs among cats that are related and/or have strong familiarity which they say enhances social bonds. Cats tend to do this mostly on the neck, ears and head area. Some species like monkeys groom each other all over their bodies.

Never heard a word for it, but it happens all the time in our house! Strange thing though, it's always Siiri that is grooming the boys, what's that about? There's the "brain grooming", the "sauna grooming" and then there's the general "grooming". It looks a little unpleasant when the ears get groomed, the tongue is really in there!

@MelissaAlice LOL too cute. The way I interpret it is is when of the same species, but it’s obvious your baby knows you are family lol.
