Did you know boxes lower stress for cats? As the meme goes, "If it fits, I sits!" Confined spaces provide security for cats… this helps them to feel safe and calms them. Studies show that cats given access to boxes adjust faster to new environments, like in shelters or in a new home. A simple cardboard box can be a great stress reliever for them. So a good tip for those getting a new kitten/cat is to set up a few boxes for them to sit in or hide under (make cut out windows/door). Better for them to seek shelter under a box than under a bed!

Gotta love it. Mizuki is so darling and has dropped so beautifully into the Sphynx modeling task.

Mine have always loved boxes and cubbies and even their carriers which we were taught early on to leave out and open for free access so they could be used as safe, cozy spots.
