You might know how long it usually takes a kitten to open their eyes, but did you know it actually varies depending on the length of their fur? Long haired cats will open their eyes later than a short haired cat. They say there is no scientific research to explain this, but it appears to run true throughout every breed of cat. Short haired kittens will on anverage open their eyes between 5 to 8 days after birth. Long haired kittens usually open theirs when they are around 10 to 14 days old. Litters that have long haired and short haired kittens in them you will see the kittens develop at different rates because of this unique difference.
