When kittens are born, their ear canals are closed and this means they cannot transmit sound from the outer ear to their ear drums. So until they are about a week old, kittens cannot hear anything.

It is thought this likely protects them in the birth canal. Once their ear canals open, the rest of their systems begin to mature, and they can progressively hear sounds.

We were smitten with her with this pic. All well on your end?
Yes thanks for asking. I had Raphael at the vet today for a wellness check. No issues, I just hadn’t seen the vet since the Spring. She checked out fine, no change in her heart murmur. We need to go back in November for another echocardiogram.

Seems like 100 years ago we caught our first glimpse of Martooni Tyme. How she has filled our hearts with her sweetness since!!
Glad to hear about Raphael.
Holding prayers and wishes for everyone awaiting good health news.
