I so wish I had the patients for this!!!! We have 2 bathrooms but some how I still think that every time someone in my family needed to use the bathroom they would be yelling for me to move the thing off the toilet

Pru is still on red :( because of her diarrhea issues I gave it a rest so I wouldn't stress her out more. At one point I had her at the amber stage but she put her foot through the hole and fell in the bowl. She then pooped in the shower since I guess she was scared to try it again. So I went back to red and now I'm trying to get her to position her legs right, but nothing is working. Now if she hears or sees me coming around the corner before she's going, she takes off.

Haha... awe geez

Frank almost fell in the bowl. I think he more or less stepped into it because his back foot fell in. When he was still on the red stage (and holding his poop for 2 or 3 days at a time) he decided it was better to go into the shower. That was fixed by putting water into the tub and I bought some velcro pieces to make it harder for him to get past the shower curtain (although it was still possible). Keeping water in there stopped him. You may want to put some in the sink too since I've heard about cats using the sink as another alternative.

I won't be moving Frank off Amber until I know he will poop in there without the fuss he's causing now. Right now he is whining about having to use it but he hasn't had any slip ups on the amber yet thank goodness!!

Don't give up hope!

Well, we moved to the amber stage yesterday after 2 1/2 weeks on red. She is totally comfortable hopping on and off the toilet so it was time...I know the amber stage is supposed to help them start "aiming for the hole" but Lilo doesn't seem to have much concern for that yet...she's curious about what's going on down below but still is determined to stand in the litter with all feet. I know it takes time but it's hard to catch her in the act to show her how to stand like they advise too.

Does anyone else who's been here have any input or hints?

Thanks!

My advise is take a lot of time before you move onto the final stage! Pooner was kicking butt at litter kwitter and then we moved to the final disk. Big mistake, I moved too fast and he started pooing on the floor and it didn't matter if I went back to the previous stage or not he kept pooing on the floor :Dizzy::Dizzy::Dizzy:
So now he has his litter box back:Cry::Cry:

When Yoni gets a little bigger I am going to try and train them both to litter kwitter, but I think I will order intermediate disks to help with the stages.

Good luck!!! Take it slow :ThumbsUp:

Frank is the same way. As of tomorrow it's one week on the amber and I've given him several corrections to try to AT LEAST get his front paws on the white. But if he goes on his own (esp urinating for some reason) it's all 4 paws in the litter.

What I find aggravating about the amber stage is he scoops so much of his litter into the toilet bowl and plus you're supposed to cut down on the litter to get them used to it that it just leaves a massive puddle of pee in the tray because there is not enough litter to soak it up.

If you ever find the intermediate disks - BUY THEM. they are sold out everywhere even online - including the LK website.

Way to go Lilo :ThumbsUp::ThumbsUp:

I was thinking about getting the intermediate disks but I think I'm going to try a few tricks I read about on the LK website first. They said before you move onto the amber stage, put the amber disk on top of the red disk to get them accustomed to it. Then they said to take a piece of that thick clear plastic and tape it under the hole, so they can see the bowl but they won't fall in. Hopefully this time around, Pru will take to it.

Yes, I have noticed that I'm going through a LOT more litter...I have also noticed that she likes to play in there more..seems intrigued by the water and by watching stuff fall into the water--I think the little brat is pushing litter over the edge just to watch it splash :Dizzy:.

I am going to go through this stage as slow as she needs..they say 2-4 weeks so will be interesting to see how long it takes. I do the same thing you do with Frank in terms of trying to position her but when she goes she still seems to think she needs all paws in the litter. I wonder if they eventually figure it out on their own or if I should keep showing her the position?! I wish I could catch her in the act so I could move her but she hates to be watched so I have to be in stealth-mode .

Does Pru wait for you to be around when she goes? If she does then I would probably only try the other suggestions if she really will not take to the amber. I was worried about Frank rebelling on the amber. He didn't like it at first and still gets a little whiney about having to poo in the Amber but we went straight from red to amber with no inbetweens and he hasn't had any accidents. Thankfully Frank almost always waits to potty until I'm home. I think he likes the security of me at home when he does his business - which is great for training! Sounds like Bean went straight to amber too so I think unless there's any major issues with the amber, go ahead and give it a go.

Frank is finicky. Sometimes he'll allow me to be around and other times as soon as he sees me walking up to the bathroom he jumps down and runs. I don't think he likes being repositioned (who would??) so I figure he's going in the tray, doing what he needs to do and the Green stage will allow for further adjustment. I'm not going to frustrate him and make him not want to use it by always moving him around and making him uncomfortable when it comes time to go.

Plus right now, even if he puts his front paws on the white part he can't really urinate into the hole - it just shoots straight out behind him into the tray. But his poo actually makes it into the hole sometimes. haha gotta laugh at myself talking so openly about my cats potty habits!

Lilo has peed in the hole 2 times on her own! I never thought I would get so excited about pee!

So how goes the progress?

Frank still cries and whines every time he has to poo in the LK but he does it and there have been no accidents. Does your kitty do the same thing?

He still wont put his front feet on the white part of the seat when he pees.

Next weekend we're going to move to green. It will mark 3 weeks on the Amber stage by then.

Hi all,

So, got my Litter Kwitter kit in the mail Friday so looks like Lilo and I will be joining some of you in the adventure very soon. I have read over the others posts but does anyone have anything to say about getting started?? Or any last words?? LOL.

I think she will do good. She is already curious about the toilet and has been checking it out more and more lately. I think it's going to be a little challenging since we only have one toilet but would be so worth it! I tried the contraption on last night and it seems to fit good (minus a couple of the inside plastic clips). Seems like it's going to be a pain to take on and off all the time but oh well.

Wish you much good luck, & let us know how the training is going with the Litter Kwitter:BigSmile:

I've been trying to get Pru to become accustomed to the amber disk by putting on top of the red one. I stuff the hole up with tinfoil so she'll do her business around it. Still trying to get her to stand properly on it. She seems to do better with positioning when doing #2 then #1... but were getting there. I just don't want to push her through this like I did last time.

No, she doesn't wait for me. If she hears me coming then she jump off the toilet like a bat outta hell, cause she knows I'm going to try and reposition her while she's on the pot. Haha, lil brat! She was doing great on the amber until day 3 when I heard a splash which must've been her leg falling in the toilet and darted out of the bathroom. Early the next day I found a nice little present in the shower. So back to the red stage :)

2nd day #1 on the amber stage and so far no accidents in the shower this time. She was super curious of the hole and reluctant to go a few times... jump on... jump off... run around the house... back on again. Fingers crossed she keeps up the good work

You should get the intermediate disks too... they work great for multiple cats and slow learners.

UPDATE!!

I'm ridiculously happy right now!!! I came home and Frank had to poop -- he always waits for me to come home. I

So I switched him to the green disk. He jumps up sits on the edge of the white seat and meows/cries. I am praising him from the living room (I can actually see him from my couch) and telling him he's such a good boy. He moves and positions himself but then decides against it (a few time in a row) and sits back on the white seat. But after a couple of minutes of him crying at me and me praising him - he went!! It all went effortlessly into the bowl - didn't have to clean out the tray at all.

So I give him tons and tons of praise and treats oh I'm so excited! I go flush the toilet, we play for awhile and then I go sit back down.

5 minutes after he poops he jumps up, doesn't even bother digging out all the litter like he did in the Amber tray (5 minutes of digging every time - I kid you not) and then squats and pees! Perfect form and again - it all goes into the toilet!! More praise, more treats, flush the toilet DONE! He didn't make ANY fuss about peeing in the toilet and when he was done peeing he didn't even mess with the litter because he knew it all went into the toilet.

So my advice, if you are on the Amber tray and your cat puts all 4 paws into the litter and still pee's in the tray (like Frank did - in 3 weeks he only pee'd once into hole on Amber) DONT WORRY!! My suggestion is don't stress them out and try to constantly reposition them -- unless they are peeing or pooping over the side of the tray -- because their positioning gets adjusted on the green stage.

By the way - I didn't have to use any intermediate disks nor did I have to do any tricks with the disks. I moved him straight from color to color. I made sure he was going every time to the right place and not looking around the house or bathroom for other spots. He would still meow and make a fuss about pooping on the Amber try but I knew he was ready to go to the green stage because he would go straight to the toilet and he would sit on it and meow still he had his little BM. He knew where he was supposed to go regardless of how comfortable he felt.

Also, I think what was key for me - every time I moved to a new disk I did it when I could supervise and when I KNEW Frank had to go so instead of waiting for him to need to go. That way I was alert and waiting for him.

I'm still in the Amber stage but Lilo does this too...I can usually tell by the way she "mews" when she has to poop! She will go in and out of the bathroom half a dozen times digging in the litter, etc before she goes. Peeing has never been an issue...she pees in the hole almost consistently now. I share your excitement in the whole thing because it's pretty neat! So excited to someday be litter free  I think we have a couple more weeks on amber (just to make sure). She still puts both back feet in the litter when peeing...pooing is still a little ackward for her but she's getting it...

Citty Kitty recommended putting cat nip in litter to encourage use
Not a good idea, Kitty went craz in the litter.. hope it works...
