Hey all!
I’ve posted a few times about my Bambino, Woody before. He has HCM & in January I got the news from his cardiologist that he is headed towards heart failure. He is still lively, seems to want to play even more than in the past & I had decided to look into adopting another Sphynx. I wanted Woody to have someone he could play with especially on those days life is a little busier than usual. I reached out to @Antoine after seeing his post and he was great with making accommodations for a place to meet up and receive Giorno. I got him Saturday & yesterday (Monday) Giorno & Woody played all evening until Giorno had to take a 2 hour cat nap!
Here they are curled up next to me. I think Woody was a little intimidated by the size difference at first but things are going better than I could have hoped! They are curled up together asleep next to me now!
Their personalities flow well together just as I had hoped

I’m so sorry to hear this. I’m new to this site so please bear with me. I had two Sphynx that I lost to HCM. The first was Alfie whom I got from a backyard breeder. I knew nothing about HCM until I noticed a change in Alfie and took him to the vet. At that point he was already in heart failure. I continued to treat him with his medication after bringing him home from ICU. The vets and cardiologist both said that most Sphynx don’t do well with HCM. Unfortunately I had to put Alfie down at 2.5 years old. This was by far worst grieving experience of my life. I lost my father to suicide and my mother 5 years later. I lost my first love to a car accident. All of that to say that I’d been through many losses of other pets and people. I honestly didn’t think I’d make it out alive after I lost Alfie. After him I went to a registered breeder who claimed never to have any cats with HCM. Two years later I brought Louie home at Xmas time. By 3.5 I lost him to HCM. My partner was having a hard time trying to help me with my grief and came home with Louie’s bag and a kitten inside. I was so angry at him and then he told me that I wouldn’t want to send him back from where he came from. I subsequently fell in love with this beautiful boy and had him genetically tested as a kitten for HCM. He has one HCM gene and one normal gene. It’s my understanding that he probably will get it at some point in his life but hopefully it’ll be a milder form. He is still only 2.5 years but has his echo and visit with the cardiologist every year. So far so good. I will continue to have him tested. I really just wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear your news. It’s a scary time for sure. Please find yourself a good cardiologist and keep up with his medications. I will pray for you and your baby. Please take care of yourself.

If Woody is headed toward heart failure please limit the amount of playing that he does and try not to over work his heart. This is one of the first things I learned early on. It’s nice of you to get him a playmate but please be mindful that he is still very sick.
