We adopted our boy Nudel (we had the hardest time finding a name that stuck so we went through a couple of them haha) in November. He had a few issues here and there - mostly vomiting, which we couldn't figure out. We took him to the vet at the beginning of this month as he had lost some weight. We found out that he had kidney failure. And it went down hill from there. Within a month we couldn't get a handle on his condition - even with following the vet's orders to a t, and then some (accupressure, herbs, essential oils - all specified for cats by a holistic vet). He spiraled and we couldn't wait any longer for the meds to do their job. His kidneys shut down today and we had to say goodbye all too soon. We are GUTTED. We are just feeling overwhelmed. We loved him instantly and deeply. He kept a very sweet demeanor throughout this whole thing. He lost half of his body weight (he came to us at 15 pounds). It was an intensley heartbreaking thing to witness. I just couldn't work fast enough to get ahead of his disease. I feel terrible. I feel lucky to have known him. But I know that we did absolutely everything in our power to help him be comfortable. We had no idea he was sick. I wish I had known him while he was well.
We adopted him after we had healed from losing our very long time ill Cornish Rex. These were primarily my daughter's cats. And she has had to learn some very hard life lessons. One of which is doing the right thing, not the easy thing. And she totally passed these tests. She is a strong young lady. I suppose I am rambling. But needless to say... we are in love with this breed. One day I would love to have a healthy cat. It is incredibly hard to have them and have to say goodbye so soon.
