Goodbye, dearest Ozzy

I don't seem to be able to catch a break this year. We lost Ozzy, our Californian kingsnake, 2 days ago. Went into the animal room to check water, viv temps, etc and found him dead. I rescued him from a house where he was severely neglected 20 years ago and have cared for him ever since. He was fully grown when we got him so no idea how old he was but he was at least 22 years old which is very respectable for a captive snake. I'm heartbroken. Had a little funeral for him in the garden and buried him next to Vipsania. That's four of our beloved companions we've lost this year. Admittedly all to old age, but my heart can't take much more.

Thanks everyone. I know he was "only a snake" but they all have their own personality and I love them as much as I love my other animals.

@Beckinboots , awh. Ozzy was most certainly not just a snake. he truly was a baby loved beyond words. all paws, claws, scale, fins etc are family.

Ozzy and Vipsania could not have asked for a better mum and a life of love beyond measure. (((((Hugs))))) here for you

Im so sorry to hear you have to go through another loss of a beloved companion. It sounds like Ozzy had a wonderful long life under your care. Snakes are beautiful animals and are as deserving of someones love and care just as is any other animal. My thoughts are with you xxx
