Hi all,

I'm excited to join the community of a soon-to-be Sphynx momma. Madam Winifred, Wini for short, is only a week old and is staying with her family until the end of July. I got her from a breeder here in South Florida.

Needless to say, I'm extremely excited to pick her up and bring her home in the next few months. So I would love to hear any stories about your kittens, from experts to newbies.

I would also love to know what the best cat food, treats and toys that you feel are the best for the breed.

Great to meet all of you and hope to be able to contribute as much to community as I can.

Welcome to sphynxlair! And congrats with little Madam Winifred. Hope the count down till gotcha day goes fast. Of course we would love to see pics of Wini.

I live in the Netherlands so I don't think I can give you good advise in brands for litter everything. I give my boys the same food as my breeder did gave them: Royal Canin Kitten (dry food). I'm trying to change to raw food. Lot of people here have good experience with raw food.

For toys my boys love Da bird and springs. Oh and they love to cuddle...together or with me!

Being owned by a sphynx is the best there is!

Hi and welcome !!!
There is so much !! It depends or you want to feed dry and wet . Or Raw.
I myself feed mine Raw, but before they were on Raw, I fed Grainfree kibble and canfood.
Its for every Cat and their owner different, what they prefer and what the kitten likes or can tolerate. Some have tummy troubles.
Cat toys , every cat is also there different, they all like balls with bells I think, one of mine loves the crinkly balls. The other loves round balls with bells in them and soft stuffed animals. They all love Milkbottle caps ( cheapest toy in the world besides an empty box ) .
Lots of soft blankets is a must , so they can get under it or lay in it .
Treats is what they like too, one of mine does not like fish treats or shrimp, so I tend to buy the freeze dried chicken treats or the little Lion stuff its grain free.

It's good to have you here, this is such a great community!

Congratulations on being owned by a new baby sphynx! It's true what they say .. Your life will never be the same!

Blankets of all shapes and sizes are a must no matter how warm it is where you live!

Da Bird really seems to be the go to toy for sphynx. One of my babies doesn't really like to "play" she's too dignified for that; all bets are off when the Da Bird comes out!

I feed raw, we had tummy troubles in my house and cleared them right up! But before that I fed Blue Buffalo limited ingredient grain free wet and dry.

Cat trees are a big thing too, sphynx are very active and like to climb and jump so vertical space is always a good thing!

One of mine won't touch any kind of commercial treats at all! Sniffs them and walks away!
But my raw provider dehydrates lamb liver and they both go crazy for it!!

Good luck and I hope to see some pictures of Winni soon.

Hi Melissa,

Thank you for all the great tips. I have invested in some blankets (almost forgot about that - so thank you), a cat tree, da bird and a few other toys. My breeder is going to start me on some Royal Canin cat food since that is what they use.

Great to know about the treats. We have a raw provider at a local farmers market, so I will be sure to see what she has for cat treats.

Thank you so much! My breeder also feeds Royal Canin, so I believe I will start out with that and see how things go. I went out today and got a spring toy, so thank you.

I will for sure post lots of pictures of Wini. Going to visit with her this weekend. So I will snag some baby shots.
