Has anyone flown (domestic U.S.) with raw, frozen food in checked baggage?

I am traveling with Arlo next week (via United airlines). I am still trying to figure out how to get his food to my destination (from IL to NJ). I will either ship it to my sister or will pack it in my checked baggage. I feel better if I can pack it and have it with me, but I am unsure as to weather it will be confiscated or not. The TSA and airline isn't entirely clear.. it says "Even if an item is generally permitted, it may be subject to additional screening or not allowed through the checkpoint if it triggers an alarm during the screening process, appears to have been tampered with, or poses other security concerns. The final decision rests with TSA on whether to allow any items on the plane."
So, has anyone successfully transported frozen, raw food in their checked bags? It will be in 4 oz. jelly jars and will be inside an insulated bag w/ ice packs.

Oh, and bringing a freeze dried or other type of food is not an option. I have been trying to get him to eat something other than his regular raw food and he won't touch it. He's a stubborn little guy!

I'm not sure but I would err on the side of caution. There was a story about 6 months ago about the TSA finding cocaine hidden in raw meat in a passengers luggage. Soooo! Perhaps you could ship some and bring some along? If they don't let you take the raw through security, at least you know he has more waiting for him at his final destination. Or if they do let you through, you know you won't need to ship in the future.

When we travel, I typically take a break from raw food. I give them the "Natures Variety Limited Ingredient" wet food. It's the only food that gives them firm poops, however it's stinky as all sin. Airlines stress me out enough as it is, no need for additional worry.

I did yesterday on Delta from NYC to California - checked it with my other luggage and nothing was asked/said.
