Deep inside I knew the day I brought Luna home that something was wrong but hoped I was wrong....
Lunas had alot of tests in the past few weeks, xrays, scans etc, her stage 5 heart murmur is now stage 6 and she has HCM, her hearts enlarged a great deal in the past few months and is sitting quite high, in the xrays its just about touching her spine, its showed shes also got some fluid in her lungs and heart, shes still as happy as can be and is getting quite attatched to our vet the staff pass her around for cuddles everytime shes taken out the back for tests, theres no treatment to help her at this time, just to keep her happy and comfortable is the best thing. So we will continue to do so. I have found another lovely breeder thats close by thats been lovely and will be happy to allow us to adopt from her when were ready, we were planning on getting Luna a sibling while shes still with us but because shes advancing so quickly and has also been found to be carrying bordatella its not going to happen unfortunately. But it just means more love for her and her alone :p

Ive accepted the fact even though shes only almost 2 years old, that this is just how its going to be and to treasure every day I have with her.
Me and my vet are continuing to look at every and any option that might prolong her life or make things easier for her, if anyone knows of any options/medications I may be able to bring up with my vet let me know :)

I think you are making decisions that you can control and that is SO important since the rest of your world is spinning out of control. You mentioned you always thought something was just not right from the beginning but yet you moved forward and gave your baby a home. A home filled with love, security and happiness. Hats off to you...your baby is blessed. She knows nothing else but your love...that is a blessing. So do what feels right and move forward and cherish her journey...we are here for you...

I am very sorry to hear that. You are doing the best you can with what you have been handed. I know you love your girl so much. Treasure everyday. And I hope you will let the Lair be a sounding board for you.

I am so very sorry. This is a horrible disease that no one should have to deal with. My heart goes out to you with understanding. While it does sound like she's more advanced than Ash, I would still recommend trying medications like Atenolol and Enalapril to help her heart and circulation, and lasix to help with the fluid if she isn't already on them. These may, at least, make her more comfortable. ::HUGS:: and prayers!!

Oh, how I hate that damn disease!!! I am sorry from the bottom of my heart. Luna is such a sweet little baby......but none of us are promised a long time with our babies. We take what we can steal away from everything out there that lays in wait...and we enjoy the time we have together. Luna has been blessed with a lot of love. I am sorry it has been so short....but enjoy each other while you can and when the time comes that she wants to go home, please give her the final gift left to you to give: a painless, peaceful crossing from this life to the next surrounded by the family she loves. Until then do what you can.....make some memories.....love and spoil her like crazy. And then have no guilt. No regrets. Luna knows you love her--and love is everything.

Wow, my heart is breaking reading about Luna and your strength throughout this process. It's just not fair. Luna is so young and this shouldn't be happening. :(
Tell me something...what did you sense right from the beginning that you just knew there was something wrong? And your vet never picked anything up with Luna's heart before now?

So sorry for you, but it sounds like you have an amazing outlook, and Luna is certainly in good hands. Glad you found a good breeder nearby when you're ready for that step.

And you are absolutely right about chronic illness being the best reminder to enjoy each and every second (not the happiest reminder, but the most effective!). I'm sure you and Luna will enjoy your lives together at the absolute maximum.

But my heart still goes out to you--so sorry :(

It breaks my heart to hear of another baby with this disease. I'm so sorry. I can only imagine what you're going through, with such a young one. As you have said yourself, and is echoed in comments above, all we can do is be thankful for every minute, and, today, you are together in love!

I really hate HCN and I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. Dealing with a chronic illness stinks, but you have the right attitude for sure. Do all that you can medically to prolong her quality of life and keep her comfortable. Then just continue to love on her like crazy.

Tell me something...what did you sense right from the beginning that you just knew there was something wrong? And your vet never picked anything up with Luna's heart before now?

My first sign was when the breeder delayed Lunas arrival by more than 4 weeks because the kitten I had selected had a heart murmur, took Luna to the vet the day after I brought her home (she arrived at 10pm the night before) thats when a stage 2 heart murmur was picked up. My second sign was when the breeder started avoiding my calls or calling when she knew I wasnt home. And then recently when I found out her father had passed from HCM, the breeder heavily denied he was her father even though when selecting my kitten I was told he was the dad.
It was one thing after another but from the first vet visit I knew but hoped it would just go away, when it advanced to stage 5 in 6 short months I was pretty confident I knew it was HCM, I didnt want it confirmed but id like a rough estimate on her life expectancy so we can get the most out of every day. I also dont want her to struggle at the end, if shes not living life in happyness even though it will kill me Ill do whats best for her. I cant be selfish. Im just going to stay happy for her and possitive and give her the best life I can. :) Shes a strong girl I know she will do fine.

Sorry you went through that ordeal. It just saddens me that Luna has been suffering with heart problems and that you have no choice, but to deal with it as you know what the final outcome will be. :(

You are very strong...just like Luna.

BIG hugs to you both.

I had a long 12 year wait before I was able to get my own Sphynx so was able to do alot of research and knew HCM was on the cards, it was just one of those "it wont happen to me" sort of things, but Im greatful she came into my life, health problems and all, I wouldnt change my decision, shes been worth every dollar (10k+ since her arrival). Shes just perfect the way she is and has my heart :)
