Hi there! Just wondering at what age did you first take your babies for an HCM scan and consult. My Olive will be One in August, she is in good health (thank God) but I was just considering taking her for a baseline echo and I’m wondering if anyone else has done that and at what age was it.

We have taken all of our at 1 years of age for a baseline…by then their hearts should be full grown etc.

It is recommended to to their first echo scan at 1yr old for a baseline. I wish I had known with my first sphynx who passed at 7, due to kidney failure from the medications to treat her HCM.

I too didn't realise scans can be done from one year of age, but thanks to SL I do now and any future nakids that I may be lucky enough to share my life with will be scanned routinely as HCM sadly seems all too common. My boy Wilson didn't have a scan until he developed symptoms at 7 yrs, he passed away at 9 yrs old
