hi, my name is Lea and we live in Adelaide, Australia. We've owned our two adult girls, Cleopatra the calico and Monita the black and white, for 8 years, but have been lucky enough this year to finally get our dream babies, a Bengal girl, now 6 months and our brand new sphynx baby, Rosie. I also have 7 rescued blue tongue skinks, which I adore as much as the cats, they are just less willing to give you kisses and cuddles than their feline sisters. All of our cats are amazing in their own ways of course, but since this is a sphynx site, I'll just post pics of Rosie. She's incredibly affectionate, spending no time at all worrying about her flight from Brisbane and immediately started purring and climbing up to our faces to give us loving kisses and rubbing her scent on us as if to lay her claim.
She's totally adorable, totally smooth and irresistible all over, with a small covering of fur on her nose and eat tips. It took a couple of days for our Bengal to adjust, but now they are best buddies, as cautious as we still are, just in case and we Poppy the Bengal seeks her out, stands over her, a foot holding her still and licks her all over, all the while you can hear Rosie squeaking and chuffing quietly.
She doesn't make a lot of noise yet, just squeaks and chuffs and the occasional small miaow when she can't see us. She's a lover of my heated blanket and gets right under the covers at night to make the most of it.
I could waffle on about her for ages, but I'll stop now and try to post some pictures for you.
Thanks for creating such a fantastic site, I've already watched the bathing and ear cleaning videos, very helpful!

Hi and welcome to the BEST site on the web! I don't know about anyone else, but I would love to see pictures of all of your menagerie. We love Bengals, and I know that several other members also have Bengals, I also am a sucker for Calicoes and cats named Cleopatra and, and, and just about all other animals!

Thank you, thank you.mits great to find a community like this for sphynx. I've been a moderator on a bluetongueskinks site and know how valuable these places are for information, especially when just starting out, but also so you have people you can feel free to be mad about your animals with, without people thinking you're weird!

I'd love to post pics of my other 3 girls, but don't want to break any site rules! Is there a special spot for non sphynx related chat and photos? (My Cleopatra is a gorgeous girl, such a princess and a good voice on her, mainly when she's hungry, which is all the time!)

Hello @lealea and welcome to Sphynxlair! What a cutie you have there! Yes, you can post pictures of any other pets you would like, there is a not really a non sphynx area for picture sharing so share away where ever you would like, we are all generally animal lovers here. Please enjoy the community! (y)

WELCOME!!!

Love all the pictures!! You have some seriously beautiful girls!
I have actually always wanted a blue tongued skink, but the timing just never seems right ... I know that @JenFid loves bearded dragons and has shared pictures of her dragons all cuddled up with her sphyncx Mulder, do your skinks enjoy your sphynx?

Thank you, melissaalice. I adore my girls and take any opportunity to show off their pictures.

Welcome to The Lair! Your babies are beautiful. We have a Bengal who will turn 19 at the end of this month. Your baby Rosie is adorable. I am smitten with pinkies.

Patti

Oh wow! 19! That's one elderly Bengal. There must be some serious love in your house keeping him strong.

Thank you xandria. They are sweeties most of the time, but like all cats, they have their moments. Can't help but love the moments anyway.

Oh Rosie is sooo pink! How cute!!! She is a very delightful looking baby!

I had to google a skink, I wasnt quite sure what one was, I imagine they don't get to cuddle with the cats unless they intend to be an expensive lunch.

Thanks for sharing your pics! You have an adorable crowd!

My cats are quite mellow, but all the same, no one is ever alone with the skinks for safety's sake. Cleo and Monita run away from them if they move, they are scaredy cats!

I'm sure Poppy would make a meal of the lizards, so I'm not sure an introduction to Rosie is on the cards, as poppy and Rosie are both indoors.

He he, my skinks are gorgeous creatures, I'd love to post some pictures. I'll have a look and see what I have on my iPad.

Very beautiful fur/scale kids!

If you don't mind me asking a non-pet question:
Do you know how strong the job market is in Adelaide? Particularly the network/database admin type jobs?
I've been considering putting my CV/resume out to Australian companies, as I'd love to spend a decade or 2 over there.

//If you do mind -- or don't know that's cool, cheers!

@lealea , welcome! What gorgeous babies! I enjoyed all the pics!
Lol their lunch looks like my dinner :)

So happy to have you here!

I had 4 bengals for 17 years- loove their personalities and they were talkative jewelry thieves !

I have adopted Sphynx and an adopted 4 yr Bengal now :)
I look at her spots and she has matching smiley faces on her front feet!
I will try to find a pic

Looking forward to your journey here and pics in your lair album

Hi there.

No I don't mind, but I'm not sure I can give you a good answer. I do see a lot of admin type jobs advertised, but what the competition is, I'm unsure. I'm a nurse, so it's not really my field. You can check out the adelaide advertiser career pages for a better idea, it's called CareerOne.com.au and it has most current jobs in the search engine, better than sites like Seek, I think. I hope that will help a bit.

@yodamum oh my, your Bengal is gorgeous! You are right, she does have smiley faces, that's so cute.
Poppy is our second Bengal, the breed is so beautiful and unique and I think Poppy is one of the most playful kittens we've had. She's obsessed with wrappers and comes running any time she here's something being opened, like my boyfriend's chocolate bars and wants to have them for herself. It's very amusing watching her run off with a wrapper as big as her head!
