I got my Sphynx about a year ago (January 2010). I had wanted one for as long as I can remember, but hadn't been able to afford one (poor college student). The cattery I got her from was taking a break from breeding, so I was able to get a retired adult (she was 2 1/2 when I got her, not a bad age for a retired adult I thought). Her name is Rhiannon--which was shortened to Nanner--which I don't particularly like so she goes by Kitty now :)

At first she was very reserved and spent most of her time in the bedroom, where she would be in the top of the closet, under the covers, or looking out the window.

Gone are the days where I could forget that I had a cat. Now she goes crazy on a regular basis. I had to wrestle a nail file away from her earlier because she really wanted to chew on it. She loves to chew on weird things--plastic, the top of my contact solution bottle, the toothpaste tube, zippers. Right now she's sleeping right next to me, seemingly working on the best sleeping position for the loudest snores.

Something that has me very excited right now is the possibility of getting a Sphynx kitten upon my graduation from grad school in May! This time I'm hoping to get a kitten that's sticky bald (though I know that can't be guaranteed) and black or seal point (I don't know all the fancy terms for the coloring). If anyone here knows of any reputable catteries in about a 4 hour radius of Southern Illinois I would greatly appreciate it! (In a private message of course, I read the rules about posting breeder names).

Welcome to you and Nanner (I like "Nanner"!)!! She is a beauty. And congrats on your upcoming graduation. A sphynx kitten would be a lovely grad gift!

Your girl is beautiful and it's nice to meet you! I think Nanner is a great name too. But I suck at names so that may not mean anything!

I like Nanner...Nanner the Bananer...hehe. Love the picture. You must share more, and keep us posted on your graduation kitten.
