I'm a brand new sphynx mama
Her name is Illyria and i'm totally in love with her.

I just have a few questions if anyones willing to help me;
Does anyone have any tips on getting her to sleep in her own bed?
She seems to only sleep if she's curled up on me and as much as i'd love her to do this constantly it is making it slightly difficult for me and my boyfriend to sleep at night as she wakes up quite a lot and decides to play with my foot, or my hand or my face, is this something she'll grow out of (she's only 16 weeks) or do I need to train her a bit more? She meows like crazy everytime shes not in bed with me, like even walking over to her litter tray for a wee or going to get some water she is constantly meow-ing! I wouldn't mind myself it's just my housemates will start getting annoyed by this and I don't want to disturb any neighbours so if anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi and welcome :) sorry I have no advise mind rule my house they sleep where they choose to one sleeps on my pillow with me so I'm no good at how to make them sleep else where I've made peace with the fact that I in turn don't get much sleep lol. But I'm sure some members will be able to advise the only thing I can think of that may work is s heated pad in her bed perhaps

Btw she's gorgeous

Hello and welcome. I couldn't deny that sweet little face and make her sleep in a bed...lol. We have 4 cats in bed with us every night! You can try getting a heated bed, or maybe a small bed between your pillows. Put a nice warm blanket straight out of the dryer in it and once this becomes routine move the bed. These guys love hot blankets, but they love people just as much so can't say it will definitely work, but some have had success. Let us know how it goes @Kendel.

@Kendel , Welcome to you and precious Illyria :)
Looking forward to more pics and stories

How long have you had her?
When they first come home they can be more vocal etc getting settled in
Mine sleep on the bed but I train them to their spots -

I got small soft throw blankets and warmed In the dryer
Put blankets on end of bed with a few kitty treats
Be consistent and she will learn the routine

I have a 3 sided soft cat bed in the bedroom with a soft blanket inside I put a few treats in too

They are very much bed hogs and seem to always hog his side of the bed :)
He tells them come on move over and then they go to their spots
We just keep training them to their spots

I actually kept a bag of kitty treats in the headboard drawer for training
I had to hide the treats because I caught fresh Toby destroying the treat bag to get at the treats
And even trying to eat the plastic which is not good

I am afraid to use heated beds or electric blankets while we sleep so opted for those plush 50x60 throw blankets they seem to like a lot- They each have their own and now come to bed to get covered with them :)

Welcome!

I have 2 sphynx and each of them have their own bed. I keep the beds in the front room and they have really taken to them. They will usually nap in them while I am watching TV in the same room. Sometimes they sleep together, sometimes they sleep separately.

That being said, I let them sleep with me at night unless they get too rowdy. Gemma slept right next to my face with her head on the pillow all night last night while Dexter slept on my legs.

If they won't sleep, I do close my bedroom door and they will run around in the front room and go to sleep in their beds whenever they feel like it. Sometimes they will start screaming outside my bedroom door around 5am, but if I ignore them they calm down.
I had major issues with them a few weeks ago keeping me up all night - just had to make sure I kept them on a schedule and ignored them when they wanted attention in the middle of the night.

Do you want her to sleep in a bed in the same room as you? I don't see that happening... you should be thrilled your little kitty loves you so much that she wants to always be by you ;)

Hello @Kendel and welcome to sphynxlair. Illyria is a beauty!

I know some kittens meoow when they walk away from their mommy (you!) as a way to let her know where they are and to stay in touch (mommy meoows in reaction to the kitten). But I can imagine you don't feel like meoowing in the middle of the night:).
You can train Illyria like @Yoda mom suggest. If you want ger to sleep in another room you can leave a sock or something else with your smell on it with her in her bed.

My boys don't sleep in my room cause of my allergy. before i go to bed I play with them. Then I put them in their own bed, turn the lights out, cuddle with them and go to bed myself.

Hope Illyria will learn to let you sleep soon!

Thanks for all the great responses! She's only been with us a couple of days so hopefully she'll relax more with time! I've managed to get her to sleep in her bed by putting a warm hot water bottle in there with her and she seems really happy with that, I'll have to wait until tonight to see how she copes with the nighttime
Thank you all :)

Welcome to sphynxlair, good to have you.
Perry little lady you have, congrats. The warm water bottle sounds good
it's heated bed. But, I can't speak from experience, because, my Izmae,
keeps right beside me each night. She has to be touching me.

hi and welcome, what a cute little girl.
She is still new in the house, she will adjust to your household in time. I have 2 Sphynx and a small dog and a large dog and all want to be in Bed, we do kick the large dog out though, because he takes over the WHOLE bed.
She might go in her own bed in time.

Hello @Kendel and welcome to Sphynxlair! So glad you found us! What a cutie you have there! We decided years ago, no cats aloud in the bedroom and it works out fine. The meowing should stop once she gets acclimated to her new surroundings. (y)

Hi welcome
No, I have always let the cats choose where they want to sleep. I usually have at least two touching me all night long.
