Hi my name is Arrow and I have a sphynx that just turned 2 years old on the 28th named moxie. The story of how we got the cats is kinda crazy and now I know that no ethical breeder would ever do this. We found momma cat out wandering around outside one day and decided to take her in until we saw any posters while making posts about it on facebook. About a week later someone was saying it was their cat so we went out to their place to drop her off. That's when we found out she was pregnant and the breeder said she would give us a kitten for free for taking care of her and bringing her back. So we waited and waited and finally met the baby's when they were a couple weeks old. So finally the day comes that we get our kitten (which was early around 10-12 weeks? i'm pretty sure) and she changed her mind on the kitten being free saying she was going to take them to the vet and get their shots and everything done she needed so we payed 1,000 for her and she decided to give us mom cat as well (we're guessing because she couldn't have anymore litters). Well come to find out the kitten was never dewormed, no vaccines, and she wasn't spayed so on top of paying her the money we had to take her to the vet to get everything done. We have no paperwork showing mom cat was okay breed or hcm testing done and she also wasn't spayed when given to us so we also got her spayed and a round of vaccines to be sure. I wish I did my research on breeders before we got the cats but I am forever grateful for my kitties. Anyways past all that long backstory of my cat, I am 19 years old I turn 20 this year and i'm hopefully joining the local 66 union this year for heavy equipment so I can give my cat the best life with everything she could ever want. This is my first pet that's considered mine and not a family pet and i've gone completely broke for her on multiple occasions to make sure she has what she needs lol. I'm super excited to be in a new group to learn more things about her breed because I honestly learn something new about them every day. Thank you for having me !

The mothers name is Freya and the baby is Moxie, they're both completely different cats and i'm hoping as the years go on moxie will get sweeter , i think she's still in her rebellious stage lol. She just turned 2

wow, that is an incredible double gotcha story.. you have a big heart and sorry you were not told the truth about them about vaccines etc. and the out of pocket costs. all paws crossed for your local 66 joining! I save a slush fund savings account for my crew, take an amount out of paycheck automatically every month so I never see it and it goes into savings, just a little over time adds up.

Freya and Moxie struck gold in your heart and home. they were meant to be with you .

I swear sphynx are cat , dog, monkey, baby all in one for life. like no other breed I ever been a mum too,

happy belated 2nd birthday to Moxie.. how old is mum Freya? kudos to you for spaying and taking such exceptional care of them. we are here for you, never hesitate to ask questions, I remember when I got my first nakid and joined here over a decade ago and never looked back.

** safety warning, they are heat seekers and lighting fast outdoors. *
always triple check wash machine and dryers before turning on, we have sadly read some very sad stories about being trapped in and passing away, tell everyone in your family too,.

I trained mine to a meet n greet chair to try to help keep them away from doors, I walk slowly backwards outdoors with my foot at the bottom and watch carefully. some can even open certain door handles! I trained to a chair with tapping on the chair and a treat when I left and came in.
they are super smart. kitty proof everything, plants, no plug in airfresheners here as can contain toxic essential oils. same with candles.
The sphynx info center has lots of great threads and tips on care etc.

* If you microchipped them, please be sure to call and make sure the onetime lifetime registration fee paid, it is not always included in the microchipping procedure as my neighbor found out. call and confirm they have correct contact info. one of mine, the registration included BUT someone typo'd my phone number!

again, never hesitate to ask questions,. all paws are family. hugs n head smooches from me, ClaireBare now 15 1/2 yrs old and Batman nearing 16 yrs old in a few weeks,
